Whats the deal with Fords molding ?

I have owned about 15 Ford F150's now and just got a new 08 Lariat Screw again about 2 months ago.

For some reason this time the moldings around the windows and the top of the doors are going a real light grey and when the snow or rain run off of them it actually leave like a haze stain on my paint I need to remove with wax as a good soap and water cleaning does not do it.

Has anyone run into this before ?

I'm not having quite the same problem, but I too hate the moldings around my windows. I wash them when I wash the car, but they always leave bad black marks on my sponge or rag. I've tried cleaning them with no luck also. Same bad black marks. I wish I could scrub them clean and then use something to protect them, but I never have any luck.

ME TOO... They ruin half of my microfiber towels when I dry the windows! Pisses me off!

We aint talking about it being dull... we are talking about how when you rub anything across them no matter how well you clean them they will always leave a black streak on your towels when you dry...

My guess is that its carbon black. When it stops coming off the rubber, the rubber will dry out and crack very easily. It's the same thing in tires.
