Had the same thing happen on my old truck and I used a bottle of mineral spirits and a microfiber towel, took it right off with no adverse effects.

 

I used bug & tar remover on my truck when they paved the roads at work and i got tar on my truck...it worked perfectly fine

I have used it to remove pine pitch/road tar/bug gunk/evil bird droppings off of our cars. Non abrasive. This stuff pulls out the oxidation in chrome/stainless/aluminum and makes it glow.

It took the sharpie marks out of the corian countertop in the bathroom. I could go on.....

Just get it - you will not be sorry.
