Bring back the shine

My truck is in need of a new paint job this summer due to losing its luster.

I really should have waxed it alittle more often instead of just being lazy and taking it to the automatic pressure spray washes. The ones that waxing consist of spraying on a watery waxfilm and rinsing it off.

Here is the thing;
In the mean time until I have it repainted. I would like to give it alittle more shine back if possble. Is there a good wax or polish I can use to bring back that wet look again. Or even somewhere close.?
Buff or no buff?

How old is the truck? Got any pics? If so, got any close ups?

Sounds like a repaint might be a bit extreme. I'd get some opinions first. Start with answering RR and go from there.

My truck is a 91 f150. My wife has a pretty good close up picture of it in her work email but she has already turned in for the night. Ill be glad to post it tomarrow.
I was told that NU FINISH would help restore the shine.

91...well ok, we'll wait for the photos but in the mean time, get that NU Finish out of you head. Don't do it...

To give you some hope, take a look at this thread....

Post up that photo and we go from there. Cheaper than a paint job unless you are looking something like Macco....

We're gonna need to see some pics of the truck.

Where are you located?

Holy crap RR, That was one unbeleavable transformation on that link. Where can you get that stuff???
My truck isnt nearly bad as that dump truck as you all will see when I get the picture of it posted. My truck is a 91 but it only has 101,000 miles on it. Less miles than most put on in 10 years. Everything has been changed by the book and she runs as if it is darn near still new. she is just fading out of luster and shine.

I thought you would like that and give you some hope. Take a look at some of the others in the Gallery and the Hall of Fame section for some massive restorations.

That is a post by one of TDC members...the products used are Megs, 105, 205 then Optimum PoliSeal and Opti-Seal.

Easy to get stuff. You may not need all of that but you will have to invest in a polishing machine and some pads. Its cheaper than getting it painted.

We'll wait for your photos.

Agreed a repaint is a bit much. Generally, paint can be restored fairly well unless it isn't there. Fairly simple process for me too: M83 and ColorX via a G100/PC.

Before

Mid-Way

After

I'm still blushing because that was some of my recent work. If I hadn't started listening to folks like Rollingrock, Rockpick, Boss 429, HWM3 and others, I would not be where I am today. (About 10 miles behind those guys!) Trust me when I say that with patience, practice and the right products - you can do wonders. As good as that dump truck looks, it's certainly not perfect. But, it's enough to turn heads - and a lot cheaper than a new paint job!

PS: Don't fall for any of those "Billy Mays" type products you see on TV. None of them work. I've got about 8 hours into that dump truck and I'm only about 3/4 done. True transformations take some time!

yea you'd be surprised what a good detailer can do to a vehicles paint.

We had a 94 tempo that was very faded, my mom took it to a detailer and he made it look practically brand new.
