Painting Mud Guards

I just bought some mud flaps today and I was thinking if they were painted to match the body (I have the gold bottom) it would look better. What do you think? Anyone done it? Can it be done without cracking/peeling?

Thanks for your suggestions

What are they made out of? If they're rubber I woldn't do it. If they're the hard plastic type then maybe paint the back sides of them and leave the part facing the tires black. It would probably look pretty slick like that. It'll continue the color from the wheel well on the inside and the color from the body on the outside.

Thats a good idea. They are hard plastic. Ford moulded type.
