To answer to question about how Optimum Compound finishes off.......When I use OCII, most of the time it finishes off really nice and I can go straight to Poli Seal. OPS doesn't have nearly the working time as their pure polishes.

Poli Seal with the white pad will do some decent correction. I fix paint transfer marks and light swirls all of the time with OPS. It works great with an orange pad as well. This is a good product to maintain you finish.

Wow, yeah, PS doesn't seem to have any working time. I'd apply it, make maybe 2 passes and by the third pass it was completely gone. It's quick, that's for sure. I ordered another bottle along with the OC2 and orange pads.

What tips can you give me for using OC with an orange pad? 3 or 4 drops and work it into a 2x2 foot area? Keep working it in with a bit of pressure for a couple of minutes? How long does it generally take to break down? This with a PC 7424.

Thanks for chiming in.

When you first load the pad with OC you only need a couple of nickel sized dots. After that it will only take a couple dime sized dots per panel. A little bit goes a long way, if you use too much it will take longer to break down. Do it in 2x2 sections and apply about 15-20 lbs of pressure. Take very slow passes too. To break it down correctly, it will take 4-5 minutes per section. sometimes less. It will be almost clean when it is broken down all of the way.

Okay, good stuff. Should I mist the pad with water? I did that fairly regularly with the PS whenever the pad seemed to dry up, and I believe it helped.

Oh yeah, should I use a high speed on the polisher?

I appreciate it.

With Optimum polishes there is no need to mist that pad. Just put the dots of product on there, spread it out on the paint and have at it.

I edited my last post but not in time for you to see it.

One more question. High speed or low speed? I'm going to guess a high speed (6) would be best.

You always want to use speed 6 with the PC if you are wanting to do paint correction.

You've cleared up a lot of questions for me Juzstang. I've been doing some searching over the last couple of days for all these questions you just answered for me with negative results on answers.
Thx

OK I just got done detailing the truck properly this time. I won't tell you how many hours I spent on it, and I still have some work to do but here are some before and after pics:

Thanks brotha!

I had to come out of the closet sometime I guess. Those pics from a distance with no direct light on the paint looked pretty good though.

Optimum Compound 2 with an orange LC CCS foam pad followed up with Poli Seal and a green pad. It took me a very long time to get rid of those scratches.

Oh, and as you mentioned, the peanut butter was temporary, right up until the first rain fall. Now it's faded and grey again.

Distant shots always look good...ok so you may be one of the first to actually use the OC 2...how about dusting? Did you encounter any?

Guess I will have to pick up some OC 2 in the near future.

For your trim, you should bite the bullet and pick up the BlackWow, give that a shot, should be 1000 times better than Jiffy.

Again, nice work, you done good.

(BTW, which Green are you using, the Green Polish or the German Green Finish?, for some reason Lake makes 2 colors of green pads.)
