Did Some Detailing Today (Used Peanut Butter Too)

Distant shots always look good...ok so you may be one of the first to actually use the OC 2...how about dusting? Did you encounter any?
Guess I will have to pick up some OC 2 in the near future.
For your trim, you should bite the bullet and pick up the BlackWow, give that a shot, should be 1000 times better than Jiffy.
Again, nice work, you done good.
(BTW, which Green are you using, the Green Polish or the German Green Finish?, for some reason Lake makes 2 colors of green pads.)

Yes, it most definitely dusted. After all I read about this product I was under the impression it didn't dust, or at least dusted less than other products. I don't know about other products to compare this to, but it definitely dusted. You can see the dust in many of those pics.
I may bite on the Black Wow, unless I can find something else in the pantry to try out before spending that kind of coin.
The green pad I used is made in the USA. It's LC's polish and finishing pad. I've only ever seen one green pad from LC. It's the only DA CCS foam pad they show on their site.
I kid yu not, I started at 3 in the afternoon, and with very few breaks (the one's I took were short) I gave up at 2 in the morning. I still have to do the hood and front bumper area.
I hope the next time I break out the compound it doesn't take that long. It shouldn't. That was the first time the truck was done. I figure I'll compound it followed with PS once every spring, and just poli seal it once in the fall. Hopefully that'll be enough to maintain it.

Interesting you got dust with the OC2. I used it as a secondary polish after M105 and before PS and I didnt get any dust.
Also I spent many hours using PS and another product by the Wax Shop called Safe Cut. After many hours I was starting to get rid of my swirls as it was also the first time in nearly 5 years my truck had been detailed with a DA. M105 cut my detail time by ¾ the work and time.
You can get to the same place many ways.
The good part is that maintaining the finish is so much nicer than getting there.

The results on your truck were startling exceptionally good.

Maybe I worked the compound too long, but eventually it definitely dusted.
The compounding took the most time, working it and working it until I couldn't see the scratches (I call them scratches because they were deeper than swirls). Eventually it dusted and the orange pad defintely created a haze, or fine swirls, which it needed to do as far as I'm concerned, to get the best results. Using the PS was quickest and easiest part. It brought the paint up to a beautuful gloss and corrected that haze with just a couple of passes, even though I made more than a couple.

The green pads I have are noticeably softer than the orange ones. The green pad and PS wiped out the haze with one fairly slow pass.

And another option for the cowel is Aerospace 303 protectant just keep in mind once you start with any one of these products its generally best to stick with the same product in a given time period, none of them are a one time application, you might reapply every 30 days or every other 30 days with peanut butter in between, YMMV lol
You can even get a free sample of aerospace products here

I'll tell ya, I've wanted the proper tools for years now. Since I finally got them the paint has never looked as good as this on any vehicle I've ever owned. It was a ****eload of work, and in all honesty I never dreamed it would take me this many hours. Now I understand why everyone is so picky about how they wash their vehicles. I don't ever want to let the paint get to that state again.
Next it's time to tackle the Mustang. At least there's a lot less body to cover on it.

Thanks RR, I appreciate that.

It gets easier from here on out now that you got it figured out. Your depth of what to do will take over and supporting your habit will taxing..pardon the pun.
Well done sir, well done. (and you inspired me to pick up the new Optimum products)
