They are in my tailgate mostly with a few along the passenger side of the bed. I have had them in there for quite awhile when the dealer decided they would be nice and buff it out for me....

They look like they are in the clear coat and appear 3D when looking at them in the sun, they "move" and change how they appear when walking past them. They also look more like "lines" then how you would think what a swirl mark looks like. Also they only appear when the truck is in direct sun light.



I have done turtle wax clay bar, wax, and polish but they are still in there.


Any tips?


I am going to attempt to get some pics if the sun comes out today.

Nope not really, Mine are all vertical. And they look more like a line that is swirled, not actual circular marks. The paint when in the shade looks excellent. Very shiny and smooth. It just this damn mark in it....

I was looking at trucks the other day and noticed two new 09's had these same marks but all over teh hood.

I actually found two more on the drivers side bed....under the 4x4 sticker and right above the wheel well.

Well it's hard to tell in those pictures because of how dirty the truck is but I'm pretty sure there is hologramming there. Does it look something like these...





I know others have pictures that REALLY show hologramming but this is all I have as an example. They will have to be polished out. You can do it by hand but you'll regret it. I'd pick up a machine like the PC 7424. There are a lot of vendors that have good package deals on them. I tend to do most of my business with Justin at Obsessive Detail. He carries the 4 inch pads which work great with the 7424. He also carries the 5.5 inch pads which are a decent compromise between the 4 inch and the 6.5 inch (which are generally too big to be used with the 7424 but will work.) Justin also carries the Optimum line of products. I haven't gotten around to using the polishes yet as I just haven't had the time but they're suposed to work well.

yep that's what they look like. I know the dealer already had it once to "fix it" because I noticed them in there right away when I bought it (going on 3 years in Aug.) But the only thing they did was remove a few and add a bunch more.

Here is one of the tail gate....some of it is just the sun as it was getting low but the tailgate is by far the worst. I will try to get a better shot when the sun is not so low.

 

meguiars 105 then 205 then some 21!

 

if you are just trying to fix the holograms and that is all that's there, you don't need the 105, the 205 will polish that out no problem...so will PB New SSR1 or SSR 2.5 (Polish pad only)

If you have other correction to do, then yes, hit it with 105, then 205...enjoy.

Good pics...but should be easy to fix.

EDIT, I do see some spider webbing...if you wanted to one step it, a few passes with 205 would do it...but if not, you would have to step it up to 105...just remember, 105 is a Compound and a little of that product goes a long way.

Honestly? No. Sorry to say that.

For a machine, a few passes with Megs 80 or 205 would do the job...but you really do need a PC/DA/Flex in order to get it done.

 

What's the difference between M80 and M205?

Whats the best way to remove either one after application?

Just wipe with a MF or use a touch of Final Step "34"?
