I know what ya mean man, I went everyday to get the salt off of mine.
The best thing I've done to my truck is get the frame and body panels oiled before winter. I've been getting it done every year since I've had the truck and there's no signs of rust what so ever. When I first got my truck I painted the frame with POR15 and have been getting it oiled every year since then and everything's still holding up great.
It costs $95 at the place I take it too but it saves the truck from the salt!

I sealed my paint with Optimum Poly Seal topped with some Megs M16 before winter. I must confess that I've not taken my truck out but once this winter. My car has Collinite 476s on it. When it's caked with salt I take it to the self serve car wash and spray the salt off. I then take it back to my garage and use Optimum No Rinse to wash it completely. Really does a great job.
I make certain to spray under the vehicle with the power wand at the self serve car wash.
An hour at the car wash? Yeah, that seems excessive. I take about 5 minutes to spray down the vehicle. I'd suggest looking into some ONR if you have park the truck inside a garage.

i have to rinse my truck of at least once a week. where im at in pa, they must put salt and some kind of stones down too. and not to mention the chips in the paint on my front end. it sucks though when its too cold out cuz a couple times already as i rinse my truck off, it all turns to ice..lol.. makes me love the summer even more
