Cleaning tires???

I just bought a new set of toyo mt's. Wondering what you guys use to clean your tires. I don't want tire shine. Just a good cleaner to make them look like they do when their new. Any suggestions? Thanks in advance.

Meguiar's Super Degreaser 4:1
Purple Power Full Strength (the stuff I have, Purple Power, can be used that way anyways)
Eagle One All Wheel and Tire Cleaner

All of the above have served me very well.

All of the above have served me very well.
Do not use Meg's Super Degreaser if you have uncoated aluminum wheels! It will stain the wheels when it runs down off of the tires. Other than that it works fantastic. Meg's All Purpose Cleaner 4:1 works well also and doesn't cause any harm to the wheels.

Yes, good point. That could be said about the other two as well, the Eagle One definitely as well. Another tip is to wet the surrounding panels with some soapy water so if some overspray does occur, it doesn't stain the paint.

I only mentioned it because I made the mistake of using Super Degreaser on my tires, well one of them. That's all it took for me to learn. I've never used the other two near aftermarket wheels to know. And now I never will.

How about standard car wash soap, and a scrub brush?

Oh yeah, I hear you! I've done it before as well; with Super Degreaser and Wheel Brightener. The soapy water does the trick in case you need something besides soap and water to clean them. I just scrubbed the tires today with Purple Cleaner full strength, after washing but not rinsing the polished wheels with soapy water first. All is well!

It will strip any wax and slowly start working on the clear coat...especially if you let it sit too long.

I don't trust Simple Green myself. I've heard bad things happen but most of that has been on interior plastics. People dilute it and use it like APC+. It might not be bad on tires but try and control the overspray. That's just good practice for any chemicals though.

For my tires i spray Griot's Garage rubber cleaner on them then attack with a brush. After I rinse them off they look like new tires without the gunk of tire shine, and the white BF Goodrich really looks clean too.

thanks to all for the good info. so far i've only checked wal-mart. they were either out of stock or just don't carry any of the items mentioned above. couple of people mentioned soap and water so i'll just start with that and go from there.
