Coke didn't clean windshield. What's next?
I tried the coca-cola scrub on my windshield. It did not do the job. Actually it was Diet Coke. The wax is still there but the windshield is about a pound lighter. <G> Someone on a thread about
Rain-X said he cleaned his windshield with super fine steel wool. Would that not scratch the glass? What else? Polish?
Any suggestions would be appreciated.

Try Bon Ami, it is a great glass cleaner.
Use plenty of water, and really rinse the windshield after.

When I was in college, I worked for Chrysler's glass plant as a glass cutter/grinder. At the end of the line was a fellow who polished out scratches with a 3-foot diameter buffing wheel (like the little white cotton thing that you put in your hand drill -- only on a big case of steroids) -- and 'jewelers rouge' -- and the other thing he did was 'clean' the windows with a simple soapy brillow pad and water.
Once the glass is tempered, it's pretty scratch-resistant. Use the Brillow pad with lotsa water and a light touch.

I bought a bottle of the Rain X glass care 2000 cleaner. It is a mildly abrasive cream cleaner. It says it will strip tar, bugs, salt, wax, oils, silicones, water spots and mineral deposits from winshields, windows and chrome.
It worked very well for me...so like Road Runner mentioned..you might want to give this a try.

000 steel wheel will work bu DO NOT USE a plastic scuff pad it will scratch the glass, there is also a polishing compound that they sell in jc witiny it says it will remove small scratches and glazing. You have wax on your glass use a wax and grease remover you can buy it at a parts store or a paint and body store it is about $12 a gallon it has a lot of other use and will not harm paint. P.S. how did you get wax on the windshield?????

Steve G is right nothing rougher than triple zero. Do a search. There was some good discussion of using a rare earth based glass polish.

I would steer clear of using abrasives on glass. I'll spare you the details of my bad experiences with cleaning glass this way.
I would suggest trying Glass Wax, it comes in a metal can and has been around for 100 years, I think. If that doesn't work I would start with organic solvents, if it is a wax, lighter fluid (Zippo lighters)or naptha, should take it off then remove the naptha with window cleaner. If naptha doesn't work you still have WD-40, kerosene, or acetone (nail polish remover), that are available maybe with some scraping with a single edge razor. Anything to stay away from abrasives.
Good Luck!!
