Angry Dry ice dent removal

I got my first dent in my truck last week.
It's very small but still can be seen.Someone told me some body shops can use dry ice to remove dents that have no paint damage.........is this true? Anyone ever have this done?

I know it works. Body shops in this area don't do it, but they may in larger cities.

Take it to a paintless dent removal place and see what they say.

I've tried it before. It seemed to help, but I really think it depends on the kind of dent. Mine was caused by a baseball and was shallow and wide (hardly noticable to begin with). I don't know how much it would help on a deep ding.

Carsmedics quoted me $125.00 plus tax and said they could only get 95% of the dent removed.

Thumbs up

UPDATE

After getting quotes from several body shops ($125-$200) I took matters into my own hands.
I bought a "POPS A DENT" dent removal kit.I figured what could I lose, besides $19.99 plus tax.Well,it worked! I had to use the kit twice to get the dent to about 98% out.I am satisfied, and to see any remainder of the dent you have to look real hard.I wish I had taken a before pic.The end result is i'm happy with the outcome and would recommend this kit to anyone!

Glad to hear that you got it fixed. And for cheap too. Good to know that that will work for dents. I have some small ones and gonna be reapainting my truck so I will be giving that a try now.

Yes it is true that dry ice can take out dents. I just read an article on a dry ice site. The article says that you need to freeze it with dry ice and then use a dryer to heat it up really quick. It pulls the metal together. Sometimes it takes a few tries to get it to take all the way.

I go WAY out of my way to park away from the crowd but alas I got my first door ding. Fortunately I didn't see who did it or I would be writing this from jail. The dent is just below the gas cap in the crease line and it can be gotten to from behind. I hope the paintless dent removers can do their majic on it?

I've heard of people doing this with regular ice in place of dry ice.

I worked in the autobody trade for 10 years...

The myth of dry ice was always out there...never saw it tried!

Sounds like one for the Myth Busters!

Regards!
