I was looking at the ultimate compound but decided on the fine cut cleaner because i figured since it was the professional series it would work better....

The Mirror Glaze products are designed to be used with a rotary buffer (what "pros" generally use as it is a much more powerful tool than any of the alternatives), almost every single one is body shop safe (can be used in a fresh paint environment) and they are sold in bulk sizes so the primary users don't have to buy 40 16oz. bottles. Other than that, they aren't necessarily and better or worse than the regular, consumer line.

For example: M21 2.0 is essentially the exact same as NXT 2.0, except M21 can be used with a rotary buffer. M135 Synthetic Spray Detailer is Ultimate Quik Detailer sold in gallon size.

The professional series is designed to be used by trained professionals with professional equipment. No offense - you are not a trained professional and you don't have professional equipment. #2 is certainly not designed to be used with a random orbital, much less by hand.

By the looks of those pics, I think you need a professional. Otherwise, build up your arm strength and use UC by hand.

I would suggest washing that car with dish soap first, then claying it, then trying UC. the washing and claying won't taking out any swirls, but will give you a proper starting point. Also, Meg's #34 Final Inspection breaks up #2 really well to clean it off.

The hood is pretty bad, there is a lot of good info and help here that will help. If you don't want to invest in a DA, maybe drop by a detailer and get a quote but my guess is the cost of a DA is less and you can use it again and again instead of paying the same amount to visit a detailer once.

i'll be cleaning my mom's lexus is-f tomorrow and using Meg's UC. I'm also going to be applying by hand since my DA is packed up for moving. I'll post some pics when done to give you an idea of what it looks like. Granted her paint doesn't look anywhere near as harsh as yours

I would agree with roushstage, Ultimate Compound is the way to go in most cases, and it works great by hand, just be ready to have a sore shoulder when you are finished.
