Help! Megs #2

I had washed my truck today and was about to wax it when i saw tons of swirl marks in the finish. So i went and bought a bottle of megs fine cut cleaner #2 and applied it with my random orbital buffer. Now i cannot get it off at all! I tried just rubbing with a clean terry towel and wetting it and trying to wipe it off. It still wont come off! Any help?

i would try setting it out in the sun to warm it up some. the heat should help soften it up to aid in removal.

Well i got it off.... Well, not exactly off but you can't see it anymore. I used megs gold class wax and waxed over it... Next time I use any of megs cleaners i am not going to use them on my driver's side front fender, driver's side back box side and the tailgate. those are the areas where it would not come off and are also the areas that do not have factory paint. (painted ourselves when did bodywork on those panels.) Other than that, it did manage to work fairly well, got some of the minor swirls and scratches but not most of them. Next time i will use either medium cut or heavy cut.

You put it on too thick with the wrong kind of machine. A random orbital doesn't have enough oomph to work that product correctly, you need at least a DA or stronger with a proper pad. A random orbital is only useful for applying a LSP (wax).

...and, if you work it in until it dries or let it dry, you've just created the biggest problem.

DA - dual action. It's a hybrid between a rotary and orbital. Example is a Porter-Cable 7424XP.

Meguiar’s #2 Fine Cut Cleaner is recommended for use with an dual action buffer or high speed rotary buffer.
I don't think that's the right product for you. Post some pics and let the pros here give you some better recommendations. Whatever you use, a random orbital is not the answer for actual paint correction.

Some bottles say that, for some reason. Don't let it dry and you'll be much better off as there isn't anything in it that needs to dry. Work it in, and then remove it.

No, you need a dual action polisher such as the Porter-Cable I referenced. The one you linked is a pure rotary that is dangerous in inexperienced hands. I would also use some of the new generation products such as Megs 105 and 205, with appropriate pads - NOT just a bonnet.

If you have the time and arm strength, you could use Megs Ultimate Compound by hand. That's something that you can buy at retail, the 105 and 205 would probably have to be ordered. Use it with a microfiber applicator pad and remove with a microfiber towel.

pics....

Here are some pics of the defects in my paint. It is an overcast day outside so you cant nearly see it how bad it actually is. I will Get better pics on a sunny day. Basically the paint is very cloudy and filled with tons of swirl marks and scratches and there is weird white stuff on my hood and roof.

Weird stuff on hood that will NOT come off. It is like this but way worse on the roof also. The whole roof is white like this...

Overall cloudiness of paint...

Scratches and such...

This is how the whole truck is...

More swirls and scratches...

Better pic of the $#!T on the hood....

Any help would be appreciated. I am just trying to get my truck to look good enough to show how well I take care of it...

I think Ultimate Compound, as stated above, would work much better by hand. It's a stronger cleaner too so it should yield better results as well.
