Post Whats the best way too clean off tar

I just picked up this truck monday. Love it.
I drove it too work and they had just layed tar on the road. The truck is coated on the bumpers, and the entire undercairrage with this stuff. What's the best way too clean it off without damaging the paint???

Cool

You can buy a spray can cleaner for this at almost anyplace that sells auto parts. Use the right cleaner ( one that says tar ). When wiping, turn your rag to a clean surface regularly to avoid scratches and swirls. After removing the tar, immediately wash the area with high soap mixture to remove all traces of the chemicals. This will also remove your wax.

wd-40 works very well, dissolves the tar with very little pressure on a rag.also removes bugs.

Get Lifter 1 Bug & Tar Remover sold at all Wal-Marts is the best on the market. They are having a sell on them, they usually go for $3.00 a can, but, are having them on sale for $1.00,I bought 10 cans. The tar and bugs wipe right off.

WD-40 or Naptha works really well.
The Lifter-1 from Walmart reminds me of furniture polish, it works but requires more scrubbing.

I have found that Turtle Wax's Bug & Tar remover is the best. I have tried several others and they have gotten rid of some of the tar & bugs, but Turtle Wax's works wonders and removes all of it. YOu might have to treat it twice, but it does get rid of it. Plus it leaves a shiny finish, almost like a wax. The only problem is you can't use it on pourous metals.

INDYFAN- Your guess is as good as mine. But that's what it says on the bottle. I've used it on everything and works fine.

My guess would be bare metal, not including chrome as it is used as a coating and is very smooth.

Just a guess.
