removing stick on chrome

Alright, bought my truck in July 09 and it had the stick on chrome on the rockers. At the time I didn't mind it because the remainder of the chrome (bumpers, steps and wheels) made it flow nice. But after one winter, its a pain in the a$$ to keep rust off of them. I speck of salt touches it and wham rust. Fed up of it and want it all gone. Plus I plan on getting different rims that are black or darker then what I have now and different steps.

How the heck does a person get that crap off.

Thanks
