does polish and wax expire?

do they go bad after a period of time or can you just shake them up and use them? ive had some for 2 years and was curios if they break down or not.

Depends on the product.

If you shake it up and it looks mixed, usually it's ok.
When most stuff goes bad it usually permanently separates.

Products usually dont have expiration dates and there is no rule of thumb since much depends on how (temp) it was stored.
Cool consistent storage temps last best and longest.

As long as they do not freeze ...

... most will last most of a lifetime if kept sealed.

I always keep my waxes and polishes in the hall closet to keep from extreme temp changes. Shake up the bottle and then pour some out on a applicator. If it looks lumpy like Buttermilk it is bad.
