I just did my Screw (white) and my 98 Accord (black) with Meguiar's Gold Class (polished first). This worked awesome, as well.

HOWEVER -- I do believe I would stick with Zaino, Zymol, Mother's or Meguiar's. I worked my a** off on my black Honda and it never looked even halfway decent. Seemed more greyish than black almost. Switched from that stupid NuFinish2000, and other no-name brands, and now it's like an entirely different car. Truly is night and day. In sum -- Meguiar's worked great -- I believe the other three standouts do, too.

Question

Silva1,

Where did you obtain the 5.4 emblems? Are they a Ford part? If so, do you have a part #. Thanks!

Talking

1st: ragarm --> LMAO..."finish" statement. 2nd: seems to be a great endorsement for Zaino. I've used it on my 300m, then my neighbor got suspicious that his Zaino stock was being depleted.

Good stuff...have to get some of it...

I have only 2 problems with Zaino:
1. Compared to conventional paste waxes the protection doesn't last very long, about a month maybe and my truck is garaged constantly.
2. The damn bottles are too small, therefore expensive. I've asked Sal Zaino about this but he says they have no plans of selling larger bottles.

If these two things don't bother you, go for it, it does make the paint look great.

Question

About it not lasting, how do you come by that?

Mine was done with it's first coat about 12 months ago and a 2nd coat about 11 months ago. It still beads up, not like when 1st done, but not at all flat like there's no wax on there. It's also fairly slick still, your hand doens't drag on the paint like a car w/o wax on it. It still shines like mad when clean and sits outside 24/7. What am I missing here?

Indyfan,
Good information. I used to use the #26 yellow wax on my truck but now use Zaino. I thought it was the Arizona heat that beat down the zaino, it does not last as long as the Meguiar's #26. I am trying to start a weekend detailing business also, I use Zaino on my truck but Meguiar's on customer's(mostly just friends and family) vehicles. Do you mind If I pick your brain a bit about the business you have and what steps you take with customers cars? Thank you!

I suppose the "amount" of protection is pretty subjective but I can definitely see the lack of beading (AFTER it's washed) and lack of luster after a month to a month-and-a-half.
Also the shine that comes back when re-applying the product after just one month is pretty substantial.

I'm comparing it to Meguiar's #26 Yellow Wax (which is what I use on my customer's cars), on some cars I've seen it bead up heavily even after 3 months of daily use and car washes. I detail 1 to 3 cars a weekend and see the same cars about 3 to 4 times a year so I get to see what different weather and storage conditions do to a finish, that's how I settled on Mequiar's products for the cars I work on; the value of the stuff can't be beat: I can do about 50 cars with a $10 can of paste wax and I know there will still be some wax on the paint 3 months later, whereas I can only get about 10 to 12 applications out of a bottle of Zaino and I know it'll only last a little over a month.
I am by no means putting down Zaino, it's all I use on my truck and wife's car; but it does have it's limitations.

Cool

How about putting the Meguiars wax on over the final Zaino result? I've thought about top coating it with a good carnuba wax.

Thanks to all for the comments on Zaino products. I just picked up my first rounds of products. Z-1 wash, Z-2 polish, and the ClayBar product.

Spent part of this morning before work going over my 1990 Honda. It's the "test vehicle." I have been reading out here for a few weeks now.

You guys are great advice. I'm getting a truck within a month or so. Looking forward to it immensely.

The test run on the Honda has outstanding results even on 11 year old paint and clear coat.

Zaino's is awesome and couldn't be easier to use. I put it on after getting ready for work this morning. No mess, no fuss, just a great result!

I used to have a red 1994 F-150, that I would religiously use Mother's California Gold, 3-phase system. Nothing I used prior to that could even come close to the shine that the Mother's would produce.

However, I think every store in Illinois pulled the Mother's California Gold off thier shelves a few years ago, and I haven't been able to locate it since buying my 2000 F-150. Last summer, I was desperate, and bought a bottle of Zymol. It worked O.K. on my GF's green Ranger, but the Zymol smeared my black truck beyond recognition.

Based on the reviews I've seen about Zaino, I ordered some a few weeks ago. Earlier this week, I clayed the truck (with Clay Magic), and washed it with Liquid Dawn yesterday. I started off with my first coat of Z-5, and HOLY S%^&, I couldn't believe it! Followed up with Z-6, the shine is comparable to what I saw with the Mother's on my '94. In addition, nearly ALL THE SWIRLS/SCRATCHES are completely filled!

I can't wait to run another coat of Z-5 on it, followed by some Z-2! My first impressions tell me that Zaino really lives up to its claims!

2000 F150 4x4.
I wouldn't recommend putting regular wax on top of Zaino. While it might look good after you do it, the next time you try to apply Zaino you may have problems getting good results, or you'll have to start the Zaino process all over again to remove the paste wax.

Yeah, I was a little worried about the price, but today I cut a check for 119.50 and sent it off. Hopefully it works as good as everyone says it does.
