I did auto detailing for a short period in my life. We used nail polish (straight) on the paint and and never had a problem. Try a hot pressure washer on the molding and melt the sap off? Do not use on paint as it likes to remove more than the sap! Best of luck. You may want to try a glue type solvent or sticker remover that is used to remove lettering from vehicles w/out harming the paint!

Cool

I would avoid the nail polish remover/water combo, Nail polish remover is watered down acetone which in small applications is fine, but with large application has a tendency to soften paint. 3M makes "Adhesive Remover". I got tree sap all over my truck one day, it sat in the sun for hours, and I tried all the usual items that everybody mentioned (except the clay bay and the steam clean. This stuff is very potent but it will not hurt the paint, let it soak on the sap with a rag (make sure to use laytex gloves)and it will soften it up. The colder the temperature the better this stuff seems to work.

Question

The 3M sounds good, and I've found Goof Off works pretty well on the glass. What about the plastic trim? Will the 3M or Goof Off dull the plastic trim? I also bought Meguires brand clay bar. So now I'm down to three options. Might use a little of each! Over the last week, I've bought so much 'stuff'...I might as well have took it to a shop and paid to have it cleaned off!

Have you tried ice? Could make it brittle enough to come off.... Fill the cooler with beer and go to town. If it doesn't work by the time you get to the third or fourth beer,it won't seem that bad, lol.

Seriously, try the ice. It could really work!,,,,98

Tree Sap Removal Resolved?

What worked? You seem to stop after the 3M adhesive remover suggestion.
