Post Bug and tar remover

Other than using using a whole can of elbow grease, anyone had good luck with the "bug and tar" removal products on the market? Its bug season here now and its gonna be for a while....

Thanks.

Cool

I've seen some posts regarding the use of WD40 for bug and tar removal. I've never tried this method. As for removing tar, I use "prep sol" (available at body supply shops). This is a wax and degreaser used for paint prep. I've never experienced any paint damage in using such a product.

I've had good luck with waxing the truck at the start of the 'season' and then washing it soon after going on a drive.

Got in last night from Jasper, and had some carnage on the front. After unloading the bikes etc, i washed it with my wash mitt on the front, and they all came off pretty easily.

good luck. Bugs suck!

WD-40 is the way to go. I also used it on my arms and legs after I did a new roof on my house and had tar on me.

Thumbs up

WD-40. Works great. Spray on, let soak a little bit, wipe off. Took bugs off hood in seconds. Got an 8 inch long, 3/8 inch wide black mark on my tailgate where a chair flew out at 65mph and slammed into the tailgate (was secured to a strapped). Wasn't coming off, so sprayed WD-40 on it and came out with a little rubbing. Can't tell it was ever damaged.
