Question Waxing over decals

Can you do it? Or do you have to avoid them?

I wax over everything with a carnuba wax. It does not adhere to plastic parts, create a powdery residue, or wear you out buffing it off. You do not have to let it completely set, and the results are awesome. Turtle Wax's emerald series is my favorite, and Blue Coral's carnuba sctatch and swirl remover is a close second.

NoLimits: Is that a Chevy I see reflected from your finish? It's just a tad far away and I can't be sure.

Sundog, nope, it's a Murray 46" 18 HP mower that keeps me broker than all of the mods on the truck. Might as well be a Chevy for all of the time it breaks down!

It really depends on what type of wax you are using. Some are very very hard to get off of "anything, including paint" Just stick to well know brands and those that are recommended on the boards. I used Zaino on my Z28 and they recommended waxing everything(plastic, chrome, decals, etc...)

hey, what do you guys use on your F150 emblems on the fenders and tailgates? When i wax my truck, those always look bad and i cant get the wax out of the crevices.

oh, 1 more question...on plastic pats on the truck (bottom of bumper, top of hood, bedcaps) when you get wax on them, how do you get it off?

Thanks,
brian

Barto24,
The emblem is a $5.99 purchase from Advanced Auto. It has brought more attention than any other mod! I get some great questions from folks, like "how many of those F150's were made?" LOL
Sorry to dissapoint you. LOL

Nolimits- Aw man...you had me going! haha! A little of the thread topic but last year at school, we took a trip to the auto show and my teacher rented one of those big club wagons. when we got back he went inside and we decided to play a little joke on him. We took of the Triton V8 symbol off the van and stuck it on his little ranger(early 90s im guessing) The next day at school, he said he thought it was funny, and left it on. But he said he was getting some wierd looks at stoplights!

You can go right over the decals. I use a toothbrush with SOFT bristles to go around the edges to remove the wax that collects there. As far as the f150 badges, I just go right over them too. i use the toothbrush on them and wipe the insides with a towel to remove the wax. Q-tips can get inside the badges also.
I use the same toothbrush in all of the cracks, edges, etc to remove the wax on the entire truck.
