I would only use clay bar asa last resort.
1st, try denatured alcohol, it will not hurt the paint and is available from any hardware store. 2nd, then try 3M adhesive remover (availabl at most hardware stores or any autobody paint supply store) ...one of these two should soften/dissolve allowing the removal. 3rd option would be kerosene (aka tar remover)...agin , none of these products will harm your paint except it will remove the wax. Afterwards, wash the area with soap/water, dry & re-wax.
