Oxidizing Bumper

I have an 09 XLT and the top part of the chrome bumper is oxidizing in a way hard to describe. It is only on the top to around the bend on both sides of the bumper. The center part is fine. I tried Mothers chrome polish and stuff, but this will not go away.

Another note, the chrome seems to be flaking off when I use the polish. I have never seem this before and was wondering if anyone else has had this problem.

The truck is still under warranty, but I would like to know if it is something that I have been doing wrong or is it the materials.

Never seen chrome do this before.

Sure, I though I added them in the original post. Hmmm for some reason, they don't always show up. I added them to my album and posted a link here just in case.

Can somebody tell me how to add a photo here? I have them stored in my album and I post the image link as it has them.

The photos are only visible when I log in, but are not when I am logged out.

Chrome ain't what it used to be, that's for sure. Before the truck was very old I believe I'ld be showing it to the service writer and dealer.

Go to http://photobucket.com/ and set up an album or even sub albums, make them private or public as you desire, for pics for the internet, crop to what you want to show, size about 500-800 pixels wide and upload to that album or sub album.

Then once uploaded, you'll be greeted with 4 links below each ..... use the IMG link to post here. It will look like this except with no space between the htt and the p (I put the space in so you could see how it looks before posted).

Way down elow is the same string posted with no space ... it shows as a picture.

If a large picture and you want to keep post small, post the direct link only here and when I click on it, it'll take me to the bigger picture. When you click "preview" or "submit", it will add the URL brackets.

Yep, that's me on the drawbar of my Gramp's John Deer with my Uncle Nolan driving, near about 1962 I'ld say. Rode all over the farm like that!

That's peeling chrome plating

Ford would put a new bumper on mine if it was chromed and peeling like that.

Glad the picture deal worked out!

Thanks... I will take it to the dealership and let you know what happens.

I wasn't sure if there was something else I could do. I use Mother's Chrome polish on my other vehicles, but this is the first time I have ever had a problem.

Well, I just got my truck back. They replaced the bumper under warranty for me.

Just an FYI. I contacted Ford Customer Care before this and they told me the truck was not under warranty and "bumper to bumper" does not include the bumpers... That's funny, the truck has just past its two year mark and it has under 16,000 miles on it. When I told the dealership about this they were not surprised. I guess the company works independent from the dealership for warranty work.

Thanks for all of your input.
