Detail Plus and Polymer Sealant

Detail Plus and Polymer Sealant
Hey folks,
Haven't been here in awhile... busy trying to keep afloat during the economic "downturn"...
Since I can't seem to find the time to wax my rig, I called the local "Detail Plus" facility and the guy quoted my $150 for a complete exterior detail job, which included preparation and application of a "polymer sealant" instead of a wax job. I waxed it last year using the Meguires line of products, and loved it, though it took 6 hours to do. It still beads water well.
I've read some of the posts here, and if the Detail Plus center uses a paint sealer, then I believe I'm better off with a good ol' wax job.
Comments? Anybody use "Detail Plus" centers? Are sealants the cat's meow or just another gimmick for folks like me who can't spend 6 hours fondling their trucks (much as we'd like to!)?
TIA,
