Question Need tough wax

Unfortunately, since I lifted my truck, it no longer fits in my garage and will have to sit outside all winter. Up here in Northeast Ohio the winters suck and I want to put the wax on that will offer me the most protection from the elements. Anybody got any suggestions?

Thanks,
Bob

What about the 3m wax? Is that stuff synthetic?

Well, I don't know if it is or isn't but I've been using it on my truck. Hard to polish off but sure looks good when your done. Mine wax coats have been lasting a long time. Water still beading up after 2 months.

One application of anything will not last ALL winter. You might want to try a coat of your favorite paste wax, let it harden for a day, then apply a second coat. This should last you about 3 months.

One of my projects this weekend is to get a good coat of Zaino on for the winter. I am sure it will out last any wax. This has been proven over the summer. The Zaino just keeps on working and you can't beat the shine.

I use 3M liquid carnuba. Typically, heat will remove a wax in about 4 months where cold weather, give the truck about 3 coats of wax and that should last you for 6 months. (I lived in snow country for 8 years, in Lake Arrowhead, I know what you're saying)

Liquid Glass - Synthetic Polish. Lasts way longer than carnuba based products.

I use Zymol

I have a black 99 F-150, I use Zymol. I thought it to be good stuff. Just use a back and forth motion and then buff, then for a deep shine, lightly spray with water then buff again. This stuff is great, you can pick up at wal-mart.

just gave my brand new screw a good coating of liquid glass for the winter. i striped off the el-cheapo dealer spray on wax with DAWN, then applied a good coat of the liquid glass. looks great! smooth as silk. need to give another coat tomorrow for good measure.

bought some mothers back to black for the trim, and some turtle wax tire wax for the tires. got an absorber towel for drying, 3 terrycloth towels from walmart for wax application/removal. looks like we are good to go houston!

I use zaino on my truck and love it. I don't know how it holds up to the elements of winter, but I know it shines like a ****.

I usually use Meguiar's 3-step [cleaner, then polish, then wax.....I use the pure carnuba paste]. Don't know how it will hold up in an Ohio winter, but it does pretty well in the Texas heat (i.e., I can do this in the Spring and don't have to worry about it until later in the Fall).

Blitz Wax

I've never tried Zaino, but I've used most of the rest and I've been VERY please with Blitz Wax, made by One Grand. It lasts MUCH longer than the Wal-mart Zymol (which I understand is actually made by Turtle Wax). Blitz Wax is a natural carnuba, goes on easy, comes off fairly easy, and leaves an incredible shine. (Every 3 or 4 wax jobs I polish first with a Maguire's polish.) Blitz Wax is hard to come by and is expensive, but it lasts a long time and is well worth the extra dough if you ask me. I bought mine on the internet but I forget which co. Let me know if you want the name and I'll look it up.

Thumbs up

I have been using ZYMOL for over a year...with very good results. It is not the longest lasting wax on the market (as reported)....but has a great shine and is more than adequate for my needs.

I've had very good results with Zymol on black vehicles, but not with other colors. For over all long lasting protection, "yellow" wax by pro beauty supply seems to work best. It's like butter and applies really easy.
