An easy way to apply Rain-X?

Love the stuff. Pain in the a$$ to apply and remove. I find that lots of elbow grease still leaves some behind. Generally not noticable until the sun hits the window a certain way.

Does anyone have a trick or tip on the best way to apply Rain-X?

Well at the car wash down the road here, they have disposable rain-x sponges u can get for 50 cents, I never use it for the windows, just the black plastic on the bumber, the side steps, in the engine, etc.

It is a pain to put on windows the way they recommend. But I can't see or think of any other way. Somebody's bound to know some sort of trick.....

Just read where they are fixing to sell a new type. It goes on more like wax, so you can see the haze, you don't have to rub as hard to get it off.

Forgot to tell you. You can also buy a form that you put in your window washer, that you use everytime you spray the window, it renews the orig. wax that you put on. That way you only have to put it on the hard way once.

I've found the easiest was to use Rain-x is to apply it using 0000 steel wool. After I do the windshield, I wash the truck. The 0000 extra fine steel wool will not scratch the glass, and it removes any of the crap on the windsheild. Washing does not remove the Rain-x but leaves the windsheild streak free.

one thing you guys may want to consider is replacing your blades with either Rain-X wiper blades or PIAA Wiepr Blades, they both do the same kinda function. The rubber is impregnated with silicone and as you use it it leaves a slight layer of silicone on the windshield that act's like rain-x. I've got the PIAA wiper blades and I've actually been pretty impressed with the effects, it does what they actually say .

they are a new product, they actually introduced them at the SEMA show LAST YEAR but didn't start selling them until about three weeks ago. I've got em on my f-150 and my explorer, so far I'm pleased

What's so hard? We've been using this stuff on boats for years.

All you need are 3 paper towels. Use the first one to apply the liquid. Dampen the second and wipe the glass after the Rain-X dries. Use the third to wipe up the dampness and polish the glass.

Here's what I do...

1. apply rain-x to each side of the windshield.

2. re-apply.

3. let dry.

4. wipe with towel.

5. here's the important step to get the haze off. Take a spray bottle with water and spray a mist on the windshield and wipe dry with a paper towel.

I've never tried the water thing. I always buff when dry. his gets off all the haze visible to the naked eye, but I notice little bits when the morning or evening sun hits the window at a certain angle.

After all the suggestions here, I think I definitely want to "install" the Rain-X washer fluid.

Do your windows first, before you wash. Put 2 coats on like it calls for, let it dry to a haze, then wash your truck. The large amount of water and a sponge will get all of the haze off! It's worked for me everytime! Also try washing your windows using newspaper instead of paper towels or rags, it leaves no streaks!

The thing I found out that works best for me is to apply the 2 coats and let dry. I then get a soft towel and wipe the most part of it off then use a microfiber towel(sell them at Walmart) and it takes the haze all off with no leftover residue. Use this method on both cars and don`t get any left over hazing/streaking.
