Windshield wipers?

What are the best windshield wipers? Mine are getting old and... The just plain suck.

I someone was talking about the PIAA windshield wipers that have silicone in them but I can't find a place around here that sells them. Anyone live in Nawlins and knows where to get them?

Is there a website out there that sells PIAA windshield wipers?

Intel,
I really wouldn't waist my money on "premium" blades. They tend to be junk. I was sucked in by the hype surrounding Bosch blades, 2 months later I was replacing them. Do yourself a favor and just buy good quality blades, like Anco or similar.
I have "heard" that the silicone blades do work well, but I have never seen them on any vehicle.
Good luck.

I've heard the hype about the silicone blades and now I wanna try them. It rains here a lot so I should be able to come back and give a review of them. Just gotta find a place that sells them online.

I went to one site that I found for silicone blades http://www.tripledge.com. In one of the testimonials the respondent said he found them at K-Mart. If you can't find them online, check them out.

I've got the PIAA's in mine. I've sold about a dozen pairs of them and so far everyone thats installed them has been very impressed. A cheaper alternative to the PIAA's though (haven't tried them so I can't speak for them) is that rain-x makes their own wiper blades as well that do virtually the same thing.

It depends on the year of your truck. The spare blades I had for my '97 were too short for my '99. Best bet is to just measure them.

BTW, I tried the Bosch refills on my '99. They're not worth even half what they cost. Barely lasted a year before I couldn't stand the streaking any more.

Just measure the rubber part that contacts the glass. Should be anywhere from 19" to 22", I think. I know my '97 had 22" blades. My '99 has 19" blades and my '01 has 19.5" blades. Hmmm...

I found the www.tripledge.com blades at Wal-Mart last summer.
They are excellent and were about $6.50 a blade.

I'm using the NAPA Auto Parts branded blades. You buy the whole new blade/arm. The blade sux and they even told me they did! Then buy their branded refills. They really are really good, well once you finally get them installed where they stay on! The ones that came with the arms, skipped and squeeked more than the worn out OEM blades. The refills are smooth as silk!!

I emailed and coresponded with Trico in Dec. 2000. They have a Teflon impregnated blade that NAPA was also to start selling branded with the NAPA brand. Well almost a year later and I finally found a NAPA store that carries them! One store told me they wouldn't even order them because they didn't think anyone wanted to pay $10-$12 for them! According to Trico, they last 2 times as long as their natural rubber (NAPA branded) blades. The problem is that they didn't have the size I needed for either my Expy or the Volvo. You see, they use the exact same blade, in the teflon that is. They must only have a few sizes and use many sizes universaly.

Anyway, if you can't find them, Trico said that Checker Auto was going to start carrying them too. I'd think they would be the best!

The last email from them about these was Dec. 28 2000.

Good luck!

Angry Wiper problem

I just brought a new F150 after Thanksgiving. Its a 2002 with the 5.4L engine and the passenger side wiper is skipping and squeaking. It cleans well except it skips and squeaks. I don't know if this is the wiper blade wearing out or the whole wiper is bad. It seems kinda fast to wear out giving that I've only had the truck for about 2-3 months. Does anyone have any suggestions?
