Cascade audio makes a couple types of sound dampener. Its not tar based so it should not smell like tar or leave a tar like film on your windows. Many people dont have the tar problem with dynamat but i know of a few that do.

That's the same stuff I used inside my door panels. I got it here:

I used one can for each door. Take your time. Do several coats, rather than lathering it on all at once. (It'll run if you do). Take a moment to clear the drain holes in the bottom of the doors when you're done. The application made a noticable difference.

I prefer...

I like the cascade sound damping sheets better but thats my own opinion. the sheets come with a glue on the back side so you just peal and stick.
