Im just nervous about using something heavier than they recommend. I had a 89 Mazda 929 that I used straight 30 weight in and had problems with the valve trane. The dealer claimed it was because the oil was too thick to pass through the oil journals. I think it was BS but I have been much more careful since.

5W-30 is the same thickness when cold as 5W-20. Straight 30W is a no-no in passenger car engines. Anyone who knows engines will tell you that 5W-30 is better than 5W-20 when your engine is hot. And these modular V8's are designed to run VERY hot.

5W-30 should be fine, but if you must use 20 weight, most of the majors make that viscosity (Valvoline, Amsoil, etc, etc)
