Meguiars #7 vs. #9

Can someone give me a little more information about the difference between these two products?

The #7 is listed as a 'pure polish' or glaze whereas the #9 is a swirl remover.

Does this mean that the #9 has some abrasives in it? Will the #7 remove some of those pesky light swirls and scratches or just shine the bejesus out of it?

I'm hoping that the #7 can remove some of those very fine scratches that you can only see in the right light. I don't feel I need something with much abrasion as the scratches are VERY minor and probably only noticable by me.

Any insight or suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

hi RP,

I have heard that #9 is abrasive, however It does do a fantastic job of removing little minor swirls and microsctraches in the paint. I have never had experience with it, but my uncle has used it on his burgandy 99 yota and did a fantastic job of removing the imperfections in the paint.

The #7 I do use and love it. This is what I will stick with followed up with the #26 Yellow wax. The #7 is not abrasive but I do beilieve it has fillers in it to help cover up the the swirls and sctraches. Hope this helps for ya

Thanks f-150_91.

In your experience using the #7, have you noticed that it fills some of those fine scratches and swirls?

According to Meguiars website, No. 9 SR is "non-abrasive".

It removes swirls from the paint. I'm looking at a bottle of it and it doesn't say non-abrsive anywhere on it. I actually think the #9 has diminishing abrasives in it.

You may be right, Intel486. I was looking at the "how to" pictures on the website, and it described the No. 9 as "non-abrasive", but the description of how it works sounds like it may have abrasives that "wear down" as it is applied.

Hard to say, I can look into it some more since there is nothing to do here since Lili is coming. Meguiar's is another company that is all about marketing.

Yes. They definately market however, on the flip side, I've never used a product from them that I didn't love. They make great stuff.
