LARIAT CHROME - CAN to US long ship times, customs hold up. Product Recieved
Good afternoon,
I am posting this as a near last resort before I go to Paypal and attempt to pursue something there.
LARIAT CHROME posted his Gryphon programmer for sale on 04/07. I PM'd him within a few hours of him posting the ad and sent him $325 via paypal. On 04/08 he sent me a tracking # from some Canadian shipping company. I thought everything was going fine and was just going to wait for the package.
With checking the tracking#, all it says is on 04/09 "Entered Destination Country". Nothing updated since and nothing else added to it. I have called the shipping company and they are now claiming this was a phony tracking# since it has not updated further. They can't give me any more info because it appears it was a fake#.
I found out about that this last Tuesday and sent 4 PM's over the course of 2 days to him with no response even to this point today. I also used his Paypal address to email him my concerns on Saturday and also have yet to receive a response.
I find it very odd that the tracking # is invalid now, he deleted the pictures and ad description in the thread, and now will not answer any of my questions. I have told him I would wait until Tuesday to pursue Paypal but I don't know if I want to wait that long. He has essentially stolen $325 dollars from me at this point and I'm not sure how to proceed.
Any thoughts or help from anyone or the mods would be helpful. I have copies of all PM's, emails, etc. if need be.
Thank you

It doesn't seem like the delivery time is the issue but rather the tracking number possibly being fake and the fact this guy hasn't returned any of the OP's messages.
Hope things work out for you.

I've shipped stuff overseas many times and am well aware it takes awhile sometimes to get there. The wait time is not the issue at all. The issue is the shipping company that he supposedly shipped it from is telling me over the phone they have no idea where this package is or even if the package exists. That's where my problem is.
Amazing though once I filed a Paypal complaint a few hours ago, I suddenly get a response from you via PM. Now he is claiming I'm being fraudulent because he gave me a tracking# and it showed it came into the country. Well wooptie doo! It hasn't gotten anywhere near my house & the shipping company tells me its fraud.
If the shipping company tells me the tracking# is fraud and invalid, I think any of us here would proceed with filling the claim or complaint.
Hilarous though how I hear nothing for the last 12 days and then when I do file the complaint I magically get a response a couple hours later.

Also use the address to get the local authorities into play here. You can inform them that you are a victim of fraud. Then the investigation will proceed, especially if it is in Canada and you are from the US. I got screwed by Paypal when shipping overseas. They told me to that payment was made to my account and to send the package ASAP. I did and then the money was taken back out. I filed a complaint and they did sh.t! So use the locals to get on his ***, both in your town and where you sent the $.

I have made a lot of progress on things in the last little while and things are looking a little better than they were last night. I was able to get Paypal involved and they were very quick to respond and get things moving and the ball rolling.
I have no idea why, but this tracking# does show up as a valid one on the USPS website, but not on the site of the carrier who shipped it. I guess they handed it off to USPS or something? It sure would have been nice for the original POS company that it was shipped through to tell me in the first place. So at this point it may be an actual correct tracking#, but Paypal is just as suspicious as I am at this point.
I have been asked by Paypal to wait a little longer and see how things proceed and if the package actually arrives. They are freezing his Paypal account until this happens, which of course he isn't happy about, but I've got to protect myself in case something is wrong here.
I will update this thread if anything else comes up.

#1 did you file paypal dispute yet??? if not better get on it asap
#2 maybe he or you got the tracking number mixed up, it is possible...
#3 he's a member for over a year with over than 100 posts??
#4 good luck, hopefully this will work out but it may be best to keep this quiet until you both get to communicate, I'd hate to this thread turn into an argument

#1 Yes a claim has been filed as I indicated already. They have frozen his account and mine until the issue is resolved.
#2 He may have gotten it mixed up, but the one he submitted to Paypal was the same one he gave me that the canadian shipping company can't track. Yet somehow USPS can?
#3 I'm not sure how long he's been here but I'm pretty sure his post count was above 100 when I checked
#4 We have communicated and he has responded to several PM's as I indicated above as well and we are attempting to get this resolved. I will keep it public and be honest about what's going on until the issue is resolved.
I am an Admin on SupraForums and we encourage posts like mine, rather than encourage keeping it quiet. If there is a problem with a member there, we want to know about it and will get involved if the situation proves to be fraudulent or similar. I figured the admins and mods here would want the same and hopefully will take action if this proves to be what I hope it is not.

The transaction is strictly between the buyer and the seller. The mods do not get involved unless things get out of control or there is an obvious scammer involved. That does not seem to be the case here. Most likely, there is an honest mistake and both parties are victims. They need to work it to a mutual resolution.

I didn't mean in such a way that you would be involved in the situation directly. I meant like banning a member for fraudulent sales or things like that. That's what I meant by getting involved. I apologize, didn't explain enough

They confirmed to me last night that the tracking number I supplied was valid and the item is being held by US Customs were it entered into the USA in Chicago for inspection and that it can take up to 35 bussiness days for them to release it to USPS for delivery to the buyer.
I CAN NOT CONTROL US CUSTOMS HOLDING AN ITEM FOR INSPECTION AND PAY PAL HAS SENT AN E-MAIL TO THE BUYER STATEING THIS FACT. ALL INTERNATIONAL SHIPMENTS ARE SUBJECT UNFORTUNETLY TO A CUSTOMS HOLD AND I CAN NOT CONTROL THAT.
I SINCERELY HOPE CUSTOMS RELEASES THIS ITEM ASAP SO THIS BUYER CAN RECIEVE THE ITEM HIS HARD EARND MONEY PAID FOR.
I do not like my name smeared through the mud about something that I am 100% not in the wrong about on a public forum and it shows very little class by the buyer to bring this kind of post up on a public fourm telling people I should be banned and I am a theif before this issue is resolved in the proper manner!!!
I am 100% sure this item will be recieved by the buyer in due time as soon as customs releases it.
ANYBODY WHO IS INTERESTED CAN SEE I HAVE SHIPPED THE ITEM OUT BY GOING TO CANADA POSTS WEB SITE AND ENTERING TRACKING NUMBER...
CX 204 442 980 CA
IT CAN NOT BE A FRAUDULANT TRACKING NUMBER IF IT REGISTERS ON THERE WEB SITE.
I REFUSE TO HAVE MY CHARACTER ATTACKED AND BE CALLED A THIEF ON A PUBLIC FORUM AND THIS TYPE OF MATTER SHOULD BE ADDRESSED IN PRIVATE BETWEEN ME AND THE BUYER.
I HAVE BEEN IN CONTACT WITH THE BUYER OF THIS ITEM AND AM DOING EVERYTHING IN MY POWER TO RESOLVE THIS ISSUE BUT I AM UNSURE WHAT TO DO ONCE THE ITEM HAS LEFT MY HANDS AND BEEN PUT IN TRANSIT OTHER THAN CONTACTING PAY PAL WITH TRACKING#'S/BILL.
THIS IS THE FIRST TIME I HAVE EVER ENCOUNTERED A PROBLEM WITH ANY THING I HAVE SOLD THROUGH PAY PAL AND I WILL NEVER MAKE THE MISTAKE OF EVER SENDING ANYTHING SOUTH OF THE BOARDER AGAIN.
I AM A REGISTERD CONFIRMED BANK ACCOUNT/ADDRESS PAY PAL CLIENT AND WHY WOULD I TRY AND STEEL WHEN THERE IS NO ESCAPEING ME BEING CAUGHT.
I sincerely hope "and know" this issue will be resolved and I would appreciate the buyer of this item makeing a formal appology and retracting his statements made towards me in this thread once this has been settled and his item has been recieved.

Now thats something you rarely find. Where someone comes back with the proof and still remains honorable in his deeds. I retract what I stated earlier. I was under the assumption that there was no contact or effort on behalf of the seller. I have been duped on here already after my first purchase but someone else offered the missing piece because HE has been duped on here also. Glad to see this will be resolved. Lariat, there are still some honorable people out there. It just seems that we who have been burned jump to conclusions without knowing the entire case. My apologizes.

To the OP i hope things work out and you get your product or your money back. As i do business on paypal and ebay a lot, you have taken all the right actions for disputing a transaction. Its also a good possibility you will recieve the merchandise as Lariat said, customs can hold it for some time.
To the accused, i have read the posts by the OP and no where that i can see is he calling you a thief or dragging your name through the "mud". He is voicing a concern that he has with you. He even says posting here on the forum is a "near last resort" because you did not respond to his PM's or emails. As for the title of the thread, well it got your attention as it was designed to do.
I would do the same, if a person from this forum or any forum had recieved money from me and i had not gotten the merchandise or any communications as to the status of the package. I know for international packages, customs can hold it for a while. Issue here seems to be communication though. I tend not to ship out of the country myself for these very reasons. Regardless communication is key, i always maintain contact with the customer until i confirm they have the package in hand. Then again thats just what i do, not to say everyone does that.
Just my .02 on the subject.
