superchip microtuner vs. hypertech programmer
#2
Hi ch,
That's one of the "basics" around here, meaning a very common question that gets asked over & over again literally thousands of times as new people come here every day. In those cases, we always refer you to simply read the many, many posts that are already here on these message boards, rather than waiting for someone to see your post and type out the exact same thing, thousands of times.
I highly recommend using the excellent search feature (the icon for it is in the upper right area of your screen here) as well, as that way you can *instantly* find that info and just about any other specific info, too.
To read up on all the features of the Superchips Micro Tuner, take a look over on our web site at www.TroyerPerformance.com - when the home page loads, click on "Shop" and then you'll see all the individual sections, including the Superchips section. Click on the link that says "List by Vehicle Type" so you can view just the FoMoCo applications, and read up on Part# 1715, that's the Micro Tuner for these Ford trucks. You can also feel free to give us a call to go over that in detail, our number is listed just below.
To get you some quick immediate info, the Hypertech programmer is completely generic, meaning you get the same performance program for all similar vehicles, whereas the Superchips tuning is not generic, it is vehicle-specific as it should be, so that you get a performance program that was specifically made to match *your* vehicle's exact PCM revision & software.
Additionally, Hypertech (and most others) only change tuning at full-throttle (technically, only during open loop operation) so that it does absolutely nothing for power unless you have your foot to the floor, and even then not very much, as it's a generic program compromised to run on all similar vehicles.
The bottom line is you'll gain more power and get more improvement in performance with the Superchips tuning, and you'll have that power *all* the time, at any throttle position or rpm, instead of only at full-throttle.
Thanks for dropping by, we hope you'll hang out here with us in your spare time & please don't hesitate to give us a call to go over any of this or anything else performance-related about your vehicle in more detail, we're happy to help!
