Well, they arent just that easy, but close.

For Superchip: First you need to get your computer's 4 digit code, then tell the dealer your buying it from, and he will set up the chip with the right programming.

When you get the superchip, you have to take out your computer, and scrape off a laquer that is on the points. Then after that its plug and go.

With a micro tuner: its quite a bit easier. just plug it in and set your program (Shift points, no governer, What fuel your using...) And it will replace the existing software on your computer and store the origional on the programmer if you ever want to go back.

its really not that hard either way.

Hi Rich,

A traditional Superchip module will take about 30-45 minutes for a first-timer to install properly, so there is some work involved, as the other gentleman mentioned in his response - the traditional Superchip module is not what I would call a simple "plug & play" type of device, as you have to clean & prep the PCM's connector before installation.

Now the Superchips Micro Tuner *is* a plug & play device, and with that unit, you simply plug into the OBD-II port under your truck's dash and it uploads the performance tuning in 8-10 minutes - without ever having to even touch the PCM (computer)! This is the way you'll want to go, and it has programs specifically for towing, as well as non-towing pure performance programming, too - 3 different performance tunes are available to you with the Micro Tuner, for 87 octane or premium gas.

To read up on all the various details, take a look over on our web site at www.TroyerPerformance.com - in fact, click on the link below and it will take you right to the appropriate page on our site: http://www.troyerperformance.com/cgi...chips%3BFoMoCo

There you'll want to read up on Part # 1715, which is the Superchips Micro Tuner - there is a very detailed description there on the detail page. Then for comparison, you can also read up on our Part# 1100, which is the single program Superchip module - the "traditional" performance chip.

Overall, you'll be much better off by going with the Micro Tuner - it's a lot easier installation and it does significantly more, has multi-octane capability & other additional features that make it a no-brainer, basically.

One note on our web site: for pricing on Superchips products *only*, you'll get your best price by calling us to place your order, instead of placing the order in our online system - the prices for Superchips products on our web site have to meet the manufacturer's MAP guidelines (minimum advertised price) - so our prices on our web site are higher than what you would pay when ordering from us by phone - just a word to the wise.

Take a look on our web site at the details on both types of products, and please feel free to give us a call at our number listed below if you'd like to go over any details, ask other questions, etc. - we'll be happy to help!

Good luck with your truck,
