super chip w/5.4 5 spd?
#1
Hutch: when is your new crew-cab to arrive?? Did you use your 97 as a trade? And the really big question: How much??? Did you order the 5speed?? What color?? Which seats? Was your 97 a 5 speed? If you have ordered the 5speed, when you do get it, please post how it runs & how you like it Your question about what bennies you will get from the chip is a Mike question for sure. I haven't seen anyone posting here with a 5speed 5.4 Maybe check the F250 thread, might be more info there.

Thanks Tina. The 250's due sometime in mid Nov. Always been partial to Black/Tan...150 was the same. Trading it unless I sell it before the new one comes in. As far as $$$$ I really can't complain. I get it on the "Z" plan since my father was a retiree.... works out to 4-5% below invoice. "it's a good thing"!

Dear Hutch,
So far, the 2000's have been responding with approximately the same gains as the 97-99 F-150's have. So you can expect about 28 horsepower, and 46 lbs./ft. of torque from installing the Superchip on a 5.4 engine, whether you have an automatic or a manual transmission.
What you can expect to feel is that the truck will respond basically as if it had a bit larger engine, is perhaps the best way to describe it. Because the Superchip works all the time, and not just at WOT (wide-open throttle), most people see fuel mileage gains as well as improved driveability.
For most normally-aspirated engines (meaning not supercharged or turbocharged), the Superchip delivers a 10%-12% increase in peak horsepower.
There are also a couple other things you might want to look at doing, depending on just what kind of performance you want from your truck.
In general, the 3 best areas to modify, in terms of horsepower gained for each dollar spent, are: 1.) Superchip - 28 hp. 2.) Intake - using the Airaid kit that you can get here at the F150online store at a great price, this is worth a good 12 hp on the 5.4. 3.) The exhaust-use a good cat-back system, such as the Jardine or the Gibson, and the power gains vary from 10 to as much as 17 hp for the Jardine cat-back.
The sum total of doing these 3 mods is about a 50 hp gain, a little more in the 5.4's perhaps, for a total cost of just a bit over $700. Each of these mods will tend to help power *and* gas mileage, and you can do them in any order. We recommend doing one thing at a time, so you can feel what each change did for you, but you can do it all at once if you desire!
Best of luck with your truck,
