1715 with ethanol blended gas?

Before I go ahead and purchase my 1715 tuner I wanted to address a concern of mine. I regularly make trips to South Dakota and Nebraska, and I've noticed that a fair amount of gas available is ethanol blended. Is it ok to use that ethanol blended gas with any of the three programs on the 1715? Will it affect performance at all?

Hi Cosmo,

Yes, you can use "gasahol" on the tunes in the 1715, but it has to be GOOD quality fuel - remember, the ethanol portion of the fuel (10%) is high in octane, but *extremely* low in actual energy (BTU) content - so you will get less power, performance and definitely less fuel mileage any time you run a low-energy fuel like that.

We advise people to avoid gasahol if they have ANY choice - but if you *have* to use it, just stay away from all the off-brands, no-names, and no Exxon, either - use only the very best quality fuels. For a list of those fuels, you can use the search engine here to retrieve & read any of our many previous posts on what brands of fuel we recommend using, etc.

Good luck!
