Post TOWING AND SUPER SHIP...OK??

I have a post in the Engine thread and someone raised an interesting question:

Is it ok to do heavy towing with the Super Chip installed?

My common sense tells me it shouldn't be a problem!

I have a 98 Expedition XLT 4X4 with several other mods including a Perma-Cool 6 pass combo Engine & Trans oil cooler and 3.73's...

I will be pushing the limit on the truck because the combination of truck and trailer with boat will be around 13,000 +/- 500 lbs.

Anyone...Anyone...Bueler???

I thought that you bought the chip to have more power when under load so my thoughts are that it will be ok to tow with the chip

Thumbs up

I do a good deal of towing and have had no problems, just the oposite. I have 4 tandem axel trailers and the loads vary from 3 to 6 thousand pounds. Only problem I have is stopping(no brakes on any of them). With any heavy loads you need to keep an eye on your temp gauge but with your perma-cool you should have no problems.

Hi Rand,

Good to "see" you again!

Yes, by all means, feel free to do heavy towing with the Superchip. As long as you use the correct fuel, like you have been, you'll be just fine.

That *is* a lot of weight, but with that Perma-Cool unit, your drivetrtain should be in good shape.

Good luck, and let us know how it goes,
