Hi Sport,

The Superchip is made with a program designed specifically for your individual truck, and adds power at any throttle position, instead of only at full-throttle. Others are made completely generically, for example, only one program for all 1997 4.2 V-6 automatics.

The Superchip is programmed according to the exact software revision your truck was shipped with from the factory, so you get a program that was madse specifically for *your* truck, and not something that has been compromised to run on all similar vehicles.

It will add a maximum of 25 peak horsepower and 31 lbs./ft. of torque to the 1997 & newer 4.2 V-6 in the F-150 at the flywheel. It will also clean up the shift characteristics of the automatic transmission very nicely, if so equipped. It will remove both upshift and downshift delays, transitional spark retards, and increase the line pressure a bit, so that as you give it progressively more throttle, the shifts get progressively firmer in response.

If you have a manual transmission, it adds the same amount of power, it just won't firm up the shifts like it does for the automatics, that is the only difference.

It will remove the top speed limiter as well.

It does not require any other parts to make it work, so you do not need to replace your factory thermostat, nor do we ever recommend doing that, as some other chips require. The factory thermostat is about 190-194 degrees in these vehicles, right where your coolant temperature needs to be for maximum horsepower.

With regards to the exact price, the Webmaster here prefers that we keep pricing discussions off the message boards, so we obide by that policy. We do have an online ordering system right here on F-150 Online, and the link to take you there is just below, in our signature line. Click that link and you can find that info right there, or please feel free to give us a call if you'd like to go over the details, we're happy to help.

The Superchip will work fine with most of the more popular bolt-on mods, so things like K&N air filters, exhaust changes, etc., will work fine with the Superchip. Also, should you ever do major modifications that require a custom program adjustment, that too can always be done, and your Superchip can always be updated for your vehicle at any point in the future.

There are plenty of people here who are using them, who will tell you what they think of theirs, so I'm sure you'll get some other responses back directly from people using them.

Please feel free to contact us if we can answer any specific questions for you, or just go over all the details, etc., our contact info is just below.

Best of luck with your truck,
