Cool Finally out of the high desert!!!

and away from 90 octane.Pulled into Dallas about two hours ago. Well the trip
was great,The only problem I had was when the trans would downshift,it had very noticeable ping. I have just filled up with my first tank of 93 octane, and it seems to have lessened somewhat. Hopefully this will go away now that I got
some decent gas. The truck is loaded to the gills with our stuff and runs like it did
empty in Albuquerque!!! I think my glasspacks finally burned out on the trip,
The exhaust note is deeper and more resonant,LOVE IT!! I'm still running the
hyperjunk thermostat, and the original plugs!! I can't wait til I get my plus 4's and
a 195 deg. stat in there. And some 9mm
motorsport wires. This much fun shouldn't be legal ! ,,,,,,,98
Thanks ,Mike

Talking

I put 92 on the trip, after running out the 90
from New Mexico, and it still had the pinging. The next tank was 93,but was only 60 miles from D/FW area. The ping seemed to lessen on the last fill up but I
haven't punched it since then. It was on the downshift in cruise that I could really
notice it. cracklecrackle. finally started turning off the cruise when I would approach a hill. The plugs are probably worn down so much that there are carbon
deposits that are hotter than them, causing the ping. I'll let you know sometime next week if it's still doing it.
Thanks,,,,,,98

Hi Screamer,

That may take a couple of tanks to run thru. What we would suggest is to let each tank run down until the fuel light comes on at least, before you fill up each time for the next few tanks, to get all that lower-grade fuel out of there.

Have fun on your trip!

Cool

Oh yeah,it's really working now. I believe the low octane is gone, and no pinging.
Now I'm headed over to the dealer for a
thermostat and to ask how much a plug change. I'll keep you all updated,,,,,,,,,98

Hi Screamer,

Glad to hear your pinging is gone, sounds like you just got a bad tank of gas, and it took a little while to get it run out, as we suspected was the case.

Have fun!
