Hi gang,
The info is right there at the link listed above - we make that info available 24 hours a day on our web site. Here's that link one more time for your convenience, everyone: http://www.troyerperformance.com/cgi...catalogno=1714
As you can see at that link, yes, the 1714 has the speedo recalibration for gears & tires. And yes, it will help throttle response on *every* 2004 vehicle it's made for, regardless of engine.
However, the 4.6 in the 2004 F-150 doesn't even have the throttle by wire system - so the 2004 4.6 F-150 *can't* have that problem of inherent delay in throttle input, that is something only the 3-valve 5.4 motor has due to it's TBW (Throttle-By-Wire) system.
The problem the 231 HP 4.6 SOHC engine has in the new body style 2004 F-150 is that it's just not enough engine for the new (and heavier) body style 2004 F-150 in stock trim. But like anything, there *IS* a cure to improve the 4.6's power, performance and "throttle response" in the 2004 F-150 - just do some performance mods to increase the basic engine power (starting with the tuning, since that is the single best bang for the buck) - then do more mods until you get the performance up to where you want it. Any 2004 owners that would like some help/advise with that, please feel free to give us a call & we'll be happy to go over the needs of the 4.6 in the new body style 2004 F-150 in detail with you.
I hope that info helps, & have a great weekend, everyone!

Mine 2004 4.6 STX has the throttle by wire system. I guess that's why I have a throttle lag on take-off with the 1714 huh?
What's up with that?

"To better control this power, a new torque-based electronic throttle control (throttle-by-wire) system is now featured in both 5.4-and 4.6-liter engines. In addition to improved systems control that favors torque, the electronic throttle allows engineers to tailor the throttle to specific tasks. In fact, in 4x4 low-range, there's a dedicated accelerator response strategy for challenging or slippery conditions."

The thing that has me puzzled is that I bought the first new '04 F150 in my county September 09, 2003. The 4.6 in my new STX has the throttle by wire system like the 5.4 engines.
I've been wondering where the 2004 4.6 trucks that did not have the throttle by wire system and had the conventional cable controlled throttles were assembled and sold?
