Mike,

I thought you posted previously that raising the 2-3 shift 2 notches to the right gave optimum results, or did I misunderstand you before?

Hi Colby & Grunt,

You're both very welcome, & have fun enjoying your new performance levels!

To rbraughn,

You're absolutely RIGHT with regard to the 1715 Micro Tuner, and I could have worded that a bit differently in that response - for the 1997-2003 F-150's using the 1715 Micro Tuner, we DO advise manually adjusting the 2-3 upshift point ONLY, and ONLY by taking it up precisely 2 "notches" over the default setting (the middle point on it's LCD screen - raise it 2 lines, or notches, or hash marks, whatever you want to call them, above the centerline).

As you've seen us talk about here many times before, that is a neat little driveability trick with the 1715 on the 1997-203 vehicles that allows the tranny to get back up into Overdrive quicker after it's had to downshift back down into 3rd gear like when going up a hill, etc. That is only for the 1997-2003 F-150's & Expy's using the 1715 Micro Tuners.

But in the 1714 Micro Tuners for the 2004 F-150's with the 3-valve 5.4 motor, we do NOT recommend doing that - for those, just set them at the "Superchips" setting and then leave them alone - period. That is what will deliver the best results in those vehicles. Thanks for pointing that out!

Enjoy your weekend, everyone!

so in this talk about the 1715 programmer, should i leave the shift pressure at the middle level, or put it 2 marks above the middle for all the shifts? I have it maxed out for all points right now...it seems a bit weird but its fun - is it gonna hurt anything in the long run, or am i loosing power because it ends up shifting harder? I will go back tomarrow and change the shift points though for the 2-3 range. Thanks for the help everybody!

Delta17,

I think you are "flirtin with disaster" if you have all your shift pressures maxed out. I would leave everything stock except the 2-3 shift point 2 notches to the right like Mike suggests.

Experimenting with a notch here and there might not be an issue, but maxing all the pressures out sounds like a bad thing to me.

It shifts plenty hard in my 2001 Screw just with the basic settings.

rbraughn,

I did indeed lower the shift pressures and did the two notches like mike said. I drove it for a while but then got a little bored so put it 3 above the middle setting for all points. I figure its no AS extreme, and it really dosent do much difference unless i'm heavy on the gas. But i'm sure, just to be safe, that i will put it back to the middle shift points except for the two notches because i sure dont need any problems when winter comes around in probably, and unfortantely in a couple weeks. THanks for your help and reply man!

will the underdrive pulley kit for an 03 f150 fit on on a 05 f250? it says at www.troyerperformance.com that it will fit on an 04 f150 w/the 3v engine.
