well I can post links but I dont need to..check the SV section..they are all there..I posted the one because I had it in my favorites at the time(not promoting anyone)...the people that I know of that had problems went elsewhere to correct there tunes(why I dont know)...everytuner has problems and Im not anti anyone...I have had 3 dif tuners myself and know own the PRP software

Im just voicing my opinion on what ppl(people) should do when in the market for tune...if people are happy with there tunes/products(no vendor specific) thats great...I have spent thousands of dollars on various mods and I have learned that its best to do your research on everything...what one person says doesn't mean you need to jump at it and buy it...."Troyer Performance is unquestionably the very best"..that was his opinion...and he has the right to voice that...I should of not posted just 1 link (ppl think Im bias) but a link to the supporting vendor section...there are a handfull of vendors that deal with L's and that was the reason for it...not saying one vendor is better then the other..but there are options for the "buyer" to look at before making any purchase

Chad came here for sound advice - not snide comments, petty bickering, those obsessed with finding any opportunity to steer people away from us, etc.

For "Chadr812291,"

For someone wanting to install a chip on a Lightning these days, they are not best served by using a single-bank style chip, or any single-program chip - that's the cheap thing to do, but not even remotely the best thing to do - no matter *who* handles it.

Though it can be used on a mildly modified truck, for raised-boost trucks today you should have a proper modern custom tune instead of spending money on those older outdated products. You're better off putting your bucks aside (if need be) until you can afford to have a tune done in a modern product that can not only do that Lightning justice with today's technology, but that can also be used on any 1996 & newer FoMoCo vehicle - you won't have that Lightning forever, chances are, and may well want to use the tuning device on a newer FoMoCo vehicle in the future, for example. We can offer a trade-in program for those older types of Superchips that will help reduce the cost of a proper tune done in a modern 4-bank multi-program type of tuning device that truck really should have.

The Lightning has no knock sensor to protect it's supercharged engine (it's there, but not active as due to supercharger mechanical noise it kills power all the time), so even before modern multi-bank chips became widely available, we strongly discouraged all Lightning owners from using single-program chips - the vast majority (as in 99%) of our Lightning customers back then were set up with 2-program Flip Chips, so they would at least have multi-program capability - for example, one performance tune and then a fall-back mode to protect that motor against something like a tank of bad gas - it's basic common sense to use a multi-program type of tuning product in ANY forced induction (meaning supercharged, turbocharged, or nitrous-injected) vehicle.

With all that having been said - yes, we *can* provide a tune for use in that older style chip, and in fact, for some time we were the only vendor providing performance programs for those 1999 Lightnings when they first came out - we worked long & hard with Superchips to help develop & test programs for those trucks back when they first came out - but that is not what I recommend, and the ONLY way we will even load any program into those older single-bank style chips these days for a Lightning is if the vehicle is running at STOCK boost levels. If there is any pulley installed to increase boost, then we will not load a program into such a product, as it's just not the smart thing to do in this day and age - and I'd rather lose a sale than do something I just don't agree with.

You need a proper thorough consultation, so what I recommend is to give us a quick call at our number listed below and we'll be happy to spend some time talking with you to see just what's going on with that vehicle, the exact mods, how it's being used, etc., to determine what is actually going to be the proper and most cost-effective thing to do - for example, if you have raised the boost we can offer a trade-in program for that chip to help reduce the cost of getting into a newer type of product with a proper custom tune - then you decide what you want to do from there.

(We do that by phone, by the way, not by typing - so you'll need to call us to go over all of that. )

Chad, I'm sorry you had to be subjected to some of the silliness that went on in this thread - normally we would have responded here much quicker but we were out of town for the past 3 days and just got back to see your post. Please do give us a call at our number listed below & we'll be more than happy to give you no-nonsense advice with no sales pressure - based on what really needs to be done for that vehicle, it's exact mods and how you use it, etc.

I wish you the best of luck with your Lightning,
