just ordered the xcal2...
Hello to All,
I have been trolling around reading lots of information. Great site... I will post pictures of my rig shortly. To the point... I have just ordered the xcal2 from Chrystal at Troyer Performance. I have a question on the most common tunes everyone gets. Chrystal suggested 87 tow, 93 tow and 93 max perfomance... Any thoughts would be greatly appreciated... Thanks,
Don

Hey 54Screew,
The Internet can't tell you what tunes to go with - they have no idea what your specific needs & uses are - so that is really not something you have decided for your by people out on the Internet - at least, IMHO.
You find that out by talking with *us* - we go over how you use your vehicle, and then we recommend what will be the best combination of 3 different tunes to best serve *your* individual needs - that's the way to get that done.
If you plan on doing a significant amount of towing, then I agree with that list of tunes - however, if you only plan to tow rarely, then I'd say go with 87 octane performance, 93 octane towing, and then 93 octane performance - remember, if you need to tow on 87 octane, you can always drop back to the stock program. This last combination is the way to go for those who do not need to tow with any regularity, and then how Crystal told you to go is what to use if you are going to be doing a fair amount of towing, or if you ever need to tow in areas where you may not be able to get 93 octane, etc.
I hope that info helps you a bit more my friend, & good luck!

Gentlemen,
Not only do I not have a clue who you are and thus wouldn't know your phone number anyway, but we can't have people just put up a note here saying "mike, call me" and expect me to drop everything that I have to do personally (which is run a busy company, do serious R&D, modify & tune vehicles, etc) to just sit to chat with someone about what 3 tunes to do -
Those kinds of things we have a staff for, and they are perfectly capable & competent to advise yo on those matters.
Sorry, but I can't talk to everyone who sees my name here & thinks they have to talk with me personally - that is just not possible, as much as I wish it were!
We have to do it that way, otherwise I'd never get *anything* done - so in general, I can talk personally only with those who have very specific (and generally very involved) performance issues (like our professional racers, for example) that only I can handle, or if I happen to have a rare occasion when I can spend some time yakking with us more "ordinary" guys (and I include myself in those ranks!!). But in no case do I just pick up the phone and call someone just because they put up a post here telling me to call them - sorry. if you want to speak with us, that starts by you calling us. I have no idea who you are or what your phone number is, please try to remember that there are thousands of you, but only 1 of me.
So please, if you want to speak with someone here, just give us a call - our staff will be happy to help you - and if on the off chance I happen to have a free moment, I'll be more happy to take your call personally - but please don't count on that, as a busy company owner I have to do what it takes to make this company go - speaking of which, I have to run right now to a stack of new custom tunes!
Thanks very much for your understanding on this, fellas - I really appreciate it !!!
