Extreme Tune ?

With all this talk about adjustability has any one used the extream tune program? From what I have seen on the SCT web sight it can be used in both the 9100 tuner and the Xcal It alows some end user adjustability. To use it the tune has to be exported in a differant format XTR or something (don't have a clue) Mike do you do this? what are the pros and cons to this program? I have read some posts on the sct sight both good and bad but not much on truck tuning seems as though the Mustang boys seem to use it a lot.

They are actually the same Vortec and some other mfg. use the aftercooler terminoladgy you are cooling the air after the supercharger heats it and before the intake. Intercooler does the same, usualy air to water types are called aftercooler and air to air are called intercooler. Teminology mostly.

Hi Chuck,

Yeah, I know all about it - though I do have to point out (as I'm sure you will remember) your tuning cannot stand any more timing or any less fueling, it's on kill mode for your absolute best local fuel quality. As you know, we did an awful lot of datalogging and tuning and complete retuning and then even more changes after that to get it dialed it in very nicely.

If you want to go over this, it's too detailed to type it all out here, so just give me a call when you get a chance and I'll be more than happy to go over all of that in detail with you, OK?

Thanks, & talk to you soon!

PS - good to see you again!

Thanks for the reply Mike This fall when you get over the xcal rush, we will get together and get some new datta and air fuels just to be safe if you remember I added that aftercooler and now have some unbeliavable air charge temps normal driving 8 to 10 degree over ambient and max temp at end of 2nd gear pull droped by 50 degrees on 90 degree day compared to same pull on a 72 degree day without aftercooler. That vortech air to water with the large lightning heat exchanger and pump really does the job. Who knows there might still be a little more in it. When I did some air/fuels with my friends lm1 wideband my air fuels were in the 10.5 range. since I added a little more boost so I want to recheck when we get some nice weather and I have some time. If I did have any adjustability I was thinking more of transmission shift pressure etc. I will leave the timing and fuel to you. With that factory tech valve body that 1/2 shift is still a little harsh but on the other hand with all that boost and HP 10,000 mile and that transmission fluid looks and smells like the day it was put in. Again thanks for takeing time for the reply!!!

Hi Chuck,

Well, just call me anytime & we'll get you taken care of - *always*.

What would *really* be nice is for you to bring the truck down so we can give it the once-over and get it on the dyno, and really wind it out & get it tuned to really take advantage of those colder IAT
"s you;re getting now.

that truck sure has changed a lot since the last time we tuned it, so yes, we certainly do need some solid data!

Congrats on your changes & talk to you soon!
