I think he's referring to the extra cost of the datalogging.

hwm3-
I got the LM-1 from Troyer, along with the XD-1 programmable gauge.
You should check out tuneyourengine.com for Innovate Motorsports web site and forums.

I am not going to hook-up the RPM converter because I have the XC2....... and no, you do not get an XC2 to LM-1 cable. I think it will be a home fab type thing which I am not excited about.

Why aren't you gonna hook up the RPM converter? Wouldn't that be easier than trying to home fab a cable?

By the way, we wrote some new datalogging docs on 10-28-05, that make it easier to follow and get the info we need - we also provide an alternative method of getting us the A/F data for non-supercharged vehicles that, while not a dead-nuts accurate as a wideband A/F, is close enough for many of these vehicles that we cna go ahead and make the tweaks to it. If you'd like to have a copy, give us a quick call or shoot us an email & we'll be happy to email out those new datalogging docs, if you like.

Good luck!

O.K. what 05 said.
Per Mikes latest.... if you don't have a supercharger you can datalog with the XC2 and a laptop........ borrow a lap top.

To those who have to justify the expense ...... don't do it; it won't make your life that much better

I don't know who ever came up with the idea that it costs $400 to datalog, but that isn't even remotely correct or appropriate - you can get 3 pulls on just about any dyno with A/F's for $75 to at most, $100, and that is all that is required in addition to what you datalog with your XCal 2 and your PC - it doesn't even have to be a laptop, it can be any PC running Windows XP to use the LiveLink datalogging software.

Also, apparently some people do not understand our docs - no, you do not have to do the no-load datalogging on every tune, that is done only on the most aggressive tune in most cases - and no, you do not have to do multiple dyno pulls on every tune, either, as you will see in our latest datalogging docs released 10-28-05.

We like to see 3 pulls on the most aggressive tune, and if you can, then 1 pull each on the other 2 tunes, and that can easily be done in well under an hour on any dyno, so your cost to do that is minimal - maybe $100 or so. Anyone who can afford to own and modify a late-model F-150 can easily afford that - if you can't, chances are you are living way beyond your means so you have bigger problems, let's face reality.

So it is a complete myth that it costs hundreds of dollars to datalog - all you need is the XCal 2 connected to a PC and then the A/F's - that costs very little - and anyone on the Internet already owns a PC. So the cost to datalog is *maybe* $100 for the dyno time -

And as I clearly explain in our datalogging docs that we released on 10-28-05, for those who are in such a remote location (and that only applies to maybe .05% of you, truth be told) that they really and truly cannot find a dyno anywhere within a few hundred miles, as long as the truck is not supercharged then we can get a rough idea of the A/F's by virtue of the O2 sensor voltages - meaning all you need is your XCal 2 and a PC. And by the way - that is NOT a method that we have introduced so that EVERYONE can forget about getting *correct* A/F ratios - this is intended to help those who literally do not have a dyno within 200-300 miles of their home, so using O2 sensor voltage instead of proper wideband A/F's is really only appropriate for those who actually do not have a dyno within 200-300 miles of them - not for everyone to take a lazy way out!

The truth is, anyone who can afford to own and modify one of these late-model F-150's can easily afford to shell out ~ $100 for A/F's - or for a far smarter idea, go in with a couple or few friends and buy the LM-1, so that you can share it and ALL of you can have proper wideband A/F's any time, and any place you want to!

All of this is covered in our updated datalogging instructions released as of 10-28-05, which any of our Troyer Performance custom tuning customers can have by simply calling us and asking us to email them to you.

Those updated docs make things so very nice and easy, and very clear -

I hope that clears a few things up & good luck everyone!

i think the 400 bucks came up because people kept saying you had to have a laptop which is not the case..
the only problem i have with the dyno is the hours i work, its hard for me to get one, becuase they usually are open during the hours i work.

I would sure like to know where one of these places are where you can get 3 pulls for $75. The best price I have been able to find is $260 and thats if I can get it all done in 1 hour. Otherwise it's $98 for the first 2 pulls and $50 for each one after. Most places here in SoCal want a $300 minimum. So I'm saving up the cash to get it done, I just hope my time doesn't run out before I get enough money together, especially with the Holidays comming up.
