Pyrometers and tuning

Is anyone using a pyrometer (EGT gauge) to tune their vehicle? If so, what brand/type are you using?

Does anyone know the optimal EGT to tune a blown 5.4L to? ...or where I can find out?

Thanks!

Excellent question - and far too few tuners (let alone vehicle owners) today even think about the EGT's in gasoline engines.

It cannot be said that any one EGT is optimal, as that depends on far to many factors, including exactly where the probe is placed, what type of probe is used, etc.

If you'd like to go over the specifics of this for your application, which pyrometer we recommend, where & how to place the probe, and what EGT's to shoot for, please feel free to give us a call at our number listed below - and thanks for bringing up the topic of pyrometers (EGT gauges) used on gasoline engines!
