I don’t think that’s doable, one tune is it with the old model

Yes - it's doable, but not advisable, as it's not cheap.
Better to flog the unit in the classifieds and invest the proceeds in custom tuning.

As for the *actual* cost, call Superchips directly as they will be the ones doing the update if you decide on that route - their number is listed in your 1715 manual.

I'd LOVE to... but I have to get an Xcal2 first.
My 9100 sale over in Classifieds isn't moving too quickly ... I guess folks are either confused or wary of the fact that it needs dealer unlocking and retuning to be of use to them. Oh, well.
An X2 is still in my future, though.
Perhaps you can recommend another fine member to stand in my stead and become a Beta tester at Mike's discretion.
Cheers, John!

You've certainly earned it - with your helpful posts & comparisons of tuning products that you actually paid for yourself and took all the time & trouble to evaluate and post your results. Bravo.
Good luck with the Beta, you guys !

Hi fast636,
Yes, you can have a number of those 1715's updated to the 3-tune variety, but it's rather expensive to have done, so for that reason I generally don't advise it - like th others said, you would be much better off simply offering it for sale in the F-150 Online's free Classified Ads section, and then applying that along with what it would have cost to upgrade it to a 3-tune model towards ordering the XCalibrator 2 with our Troyer Performance custom tuning - that will get you a far better result and return on your investment, as well as get you into a tuner that has the future built in as it can be programmed for virtually any 1996 & newer FoMoCo vehicle presently in production, including all the latest 2006 CAN models, etc.
For MDGFan,
My apologies, I forgot that you were still in the 9300!! If you like, I'll be happy to offer you a trade-up deal if that will help get you into the 9400 instead, just give me a call for the specifics - not trying to play salesman, but I feel bad now having asked you publicly to be a beta tester for Live Load, so I'll make you the best deal possible so you can decide if that makes it worthwhile to you - and if not, of course no problem, but I'd at least like to make the offer.
Now with regards to having any more people be beta testers for us for Live Load aside from the 2 specific people we asked (which were jpdadeo & MGDFan)- we are at a point where we can take a few more, 3 more people. So the first 3 to give us a call (and you have to own the XCal 2 of course) that are customers of ours who we have provided their tuning, we will be happy consider including you in our beta test. It requires having an XCal 2 with the 1.1 firmware version - if you don't know what version you have, just plug your unit into your PC with the included USB cable (or plug it into your vehicle), and scroll on it's keypad all the way down to where it says "Device Info" - then hit "Select," and it will give you that info - and remember, if it says 1.3, that is really 1.03, so 1.3 is actually OLDER than 1.1 with SCT's numbering scheme - I know, bass-ackwards, but that is just how they did it. So you need 1.1 firmware for this to work and specifically allow us to enable your on-board adjustability if you do not already have it, etc.
If you do not have 1.3 firmware, we can update that for you, you will need to send the unit in and we can do that and shoot it back out to you - but it's really best and far quicker for beta testers who already have firmware version 1.1.
Live load itself does not require 1.1 just to be able to use Live Load for the purpose of us emailing files to you - but it *is* required in order for us to enable the on-board adjustment capabilities and all the other latest features for those who bought the 9400 (XCal 2) early on before those features were available in the later firmware versions - so for that reason, we prefer to have beta testers who have firmware version 1.1, but we will take those with 1.3 versions as long as they are willing to shoot their unit in for us to upgrade the firmware and then we'll shoot it right back out ASAP (this also requires returning the vehicle back to it's stock tuning first) - those who want to do that, we'll make that update within 2 days of it hitting here and ship it right back out, at our expense.
Just FYI, we started sending the 1.1 version XCal 2's out roughly just about the November timeframe, if memory serves. It was actually released on 10/15/05, but we always test before releasing ourselves, and I don't remember exactly what date we actually started using it - but it should be in every tuner we have shipped out since about November 1st or so, just taking a guess.
So for say, hwm3 & 05 Silver, if you guys want to beta test, call us quickly & we'll get it set up for you - we'll take a total of 3 additional people at this time. And because you two (hwm3 & 05 Silver) expressed interest first, you two will get preference among those that call, so we'd like both of you to be in the next group of 3 - we make take a 4th person, but right now we just need a few.

No apologies needed, ever... I have a bit of an idea just how busy you must be - a true multi-tasking master!
And that is a very gracious offer! I will be calling soon.
This just reaffirms why you are held in such high regard by your many satisfied customers.
Thanks again.

Uh-oh, it's getting deep in here, better put my boots on. (Just kidding John!)
Thanks for your understanding Vic, & feel free to call us any time on that.
So far, 05 Silver is in for beta testing, and hwm3 called while I was out - we're returned his call but had to leave a voicemail, so I'm sure he & I will talk soon and get him in the beta test of Live Load as well.
