At least if Summit doesn't something on stock, they wont cahrge you until the item comes in from back-order and ships. Discount Power actually has a surplus of these things from what they said, and not one person has spoken up yet saying that they were lied to or ripped off. I'm thinking if one of the users here had been ripped, or read anywhere else about getting ripped by them, we would have slandered them all over this forum by now. I do realize that to some guys saving a buck is the number one point in a purchase, but I really enjoy great service, and I enjoy calling and talking to someone like they did.....for over 30 minuts. I like the warm and fuzzy, I like to ask stupid questions, and I like to feel that the guy that is on the other side of the line is more like a freind than the next chump I can hammer a buck from. Its all good, we all buy from differant places for differant reasons. I think after my experiance I'll call these guys again. BTW- I really do like the Edge tuner :]

Once programmed the unit CAN be removed and maintain the configuration set. The only time you need to have it plugged in all the time is if you benefit from the gauges, temperatures and so forth. If not, you can remove it. I think when I get mine, I'll probably just dowload the tune into my Truck and then remove it. Only time I'll leave it in is if I'm on a long trip. I don't feel like some chump breaking my window to steal my tuner left on the dash.(it sucks that you can't own anything nice without worrying someone will steal it)

Nothing to it Mine just sits there with no velcro or double stick tape. Nothing on the dash to indicate anything was ever there.

Hey Chase, I was looking around thier website this morning (i got my Edge tuner there) and they have a banner saying that they are getting a new tuner company. If you check out the guys on thedieselstop.com I notice that they talk alot obout the company he has shown, innovative diesel. So what the heck, I called Discount Power. He says Innovative is a Ford only custom tuner, and can do our F-150 or ANY 1996 or newer gas or diesel. I asked a price, and he said he can not disclose the price yet, but expect around 400-430 for the Xcal2 shelf tunes and a bit more for custome work.
I wonder, If I did a custom Innovative X-Cal2 would I get more power and still leave the Edge as a non-tuning monitor only?
Would a custome X-Cal2 be better than my Edge?

I got an email from them about the X-Cal 2 deal...the Innovative Tuning is a custom tune to each customer and they can change convertor lock stuff, shift speeds, and all that cool stuff.
Also, he told me to tell any friends I may have (Not many) that he has a new price on the Edge I have now. He said to check it out on the site. I went and looked and its like 327 and with shipping was 337. There is a thing there now for overnight shipping for like 25 or 30 bucks...I forget. Anyways, If I were going to go with a custom tune, what would I want to change about the convertor? He says that alot of guys like to make it stay locked solid in the top 2 gears for better economy and less tranny heat. Wont it shift hard if everything is locked up while it shifts? Would it jerk the tires like an old hotrod with a shift kit?

Ford521,
If you are considering the XCal2, you need to get in touch with Mike Troyer @ troyerperformance.com. You just fill out his worksheets, telling him what you are looking for and he will do the rest. He has over 14 years experience of tuning the F150's and he can set it up right, not sacrificing the longevity of your truck.
