However, we *do* offer a special F-150 Online member discount which you can get by simply calling us at our number listed below, and our Troyer Performance custom tuning will deliver the best power & performance gains - we can also do, for example, an MPG-specific type of tune.
Now with 141K miles, you are still safe to do modifications as long as the engine is basically healthy - you just need to make sure that your maintenance is all up to snuff - spark plugs, fuel filter, upstream O2 sensors, etc., otherwise your results, no matter if you are stock or tuned with anything, will not be as much as they could be.
Also, running "straight pipes" is really not the hot tip - all that does is create a lot of noise, and serves to reduce part-throttle torque even though you do pick up some full-throttle horsepower - so that isn't helping fuel mileage either. I'm assuming you just ran dual straight pipes back from the cats, I hope you didn't yank the cats off - that would be illegal but more important to your concerns, would actually reduce part-throttle torque & fuel mileage due to the reduction in cylinder scavenging from pulling all of that heat from the cats out of the exhaust stream, as it creates additional exhaust gas velocity. If you are running straight pipes, you might want to think about installing a pair of Magnaflow mufflers, which is not expensive, at some point - or, there is a single larger Magnaflow muffler that is one unit but is true dual in and out that would work very nicely for you, as it also has an X-pipe incorporated into it, and that would give you better torque and MPG as well - this is just FYI so you'll know.
And of course, as long as it's a 1999 or newer truck, we can recalibrate the speedometer for you so it reads right (which will fix the odometer and shift points in the automatics, too) in our custom tuning. For 197 & 1998 trucks, you need to do a simple speedo gear change which is easy & cheap.
The bottom line is, the best potential for tuning is had thru our custom tuning, as we have specialized in tuning the F-150 platform far longer than anyone else, and actually help a number of the major chipmakers with their F-series applications as a result of our expertise on this platform.
I hope this brief info helps, & please feel free to give us a call if you'd like to go over any of this in more detail!

That's fine about pricing.. When the time comes (hopefully within a few months) I'll give you guys a call and we'll see what we can do. As far as the straight pipes, I'm pretty happy with the overall sound and look so I would perfer to keep it the way it is. I still have the cats and factory y-pipe but I had a pipe clamped in place of the mufflers. Since my truck is a 98 does that mean it would be more difficult to adjust shift points or firmness?

There is a axle code on the sticker on your driverside door jam, you can find it on the internet or post it on here and someone can find it for you.
I am planning on running a straightpipe catback too, true duals coming off the cats with a crossover though. I figure if it is too loud I can stick some glasspacks on it. If I am going to fiddle with the exhaust I want to at least be able to hear it myself.

I picked up an Edge Evolution (old style) nUsed on eBay a couple weeks back and finally got a chance to hook it up Friday. Man! It's like a different truck! It has 3 tunes you can choose from. I tried all 3 but I stuck with level 3 "High Perf". It adjusted the shift points, rev limiter, speed limiter, timing, and fuel maps. The truck is seriously nothing like it was before. If you can swing the $ one of the newer ones has gauges and you just leave it connected and install it somewhere in your cab and has lots more features than the old style I got. I couldn't beat the price I got mine for though so I don't really care right now. Maybe down the road I will pick up the new style or get a custom tune but for now I am 100% satisfied with the tune! I am pretty sure the only difference between using this model on a 98 like yours and an 03 like mine is the gearing/tire size adjustments for the speedo isn't possible on yours. Otherwise it does all the same adjustments to the shift points, rev limiter, speed limiter, timing, and fuel maps.
