I just recently purchased a 2004 Expedition Eddie Bauer and ofcourse it has the 2 valve 5.4L instead of the 3 valve. I really wanted the 3 valve, but I got a REALLY good deal on this! I've been out of the gas seen since '99 so I'm trying to catch up. I'm currently only getting about 13mpg. What is the best chip or tuner on the market for the 2 valve to increase fuel mileage and some power? I like the idea of a flip chip to switch power on the fly, but will mainly just run 87 octane. I will be following this soon with an intake and exhaust. Any help would be very much appreciated!!

I would recommend the xcal 2 with the custom tunes by Troyer Performance, but if you do some searching around the forums you will find an enormous amount of useful information.

Tuners, chips, intake systems, and exhaust systems are like double edge swords...once you get these performance mods, you tend to drive harder and lose gas mileage...

Perhaps if you're discipline enough to take it easy, you might see some gains...I didn't...

The Expys didn't get the 5.4 3v until a year after the F-150's, so you missed it by one model year - but that's OK, we can still make that 5.4 2V respond very nicely with our tuning, to make more power and we can also do fuel mileage tuning as well.
