Edge Problem
Here is the summary of my problems. I was an orig alpha/beta tester for Edge.
My 1st evolution had a bad screen after I programmed my truck and they sent me a new one.
I deceided that since I might sell my truck that I was going to put it back to stock. The new evolution on there said it was programmed to another VIN. I eplained to them that I wanted to put my truck back to stock but the edge said it was programmed to another VIN. He said he would make my edge a stock writer. Becoming a stock writer would never load on my edge. Edge said they will overnight me a stock writer and a new edge.
I got it today and put my truck back to stock. NOW MY TRUCK WON'T START!!!!
Edge is closed today and closed Monday for Presidents day. Can anyone give me any suggestions. I need my truck!!!

If your theft lamp flashes a code after about a 2 min wait in ignition run, the code will most likely tell that the VID block is corrupted.
When they do a stock writer, that is often where the problem is.
Data wrong or missing for your peticular truck.
If so, it's off to the dealer for a re-flash.
Good luck.

Well I got it to the dealer before the closed. They PCM is corrupt and they are getting lots of codes. He said they will try and save it. They said this is common for folks who use programmers. He said the PCM us under a 8yr/80k warranty which I didn't know about so they will replace it under warranty if they have to, but it wasn't going to take the basic re-flash and they have to download some stuff for my truck.
Right now 85/re-flash and 65/wrecker.
I can't wait for Edge to open , I hope they are going to pay for this.

Here is some additional info for your consumption.
I don't know what year you have but up to 03, the dealer can do a complete reflash with their programmer and select all the options your truck has.
Any programming that they have a problem with, is accessable from a remote source called "as built" data base.
This 'as built' is a data base with every truck's VIN 'build data'.
You need to take all your spare keys to them because the PATS system talks to the PCM and each has to have the correct data for the engine to start.
This is the area that you now have the basic problem in.
My refernce to the PATS code would tell you these two devices can't talk to each other as well as the PCM should have yielded a code of P1639.
The two codes from the different sources are saying the same thing about the basic fault, just at both ends of the bus.
Edge does not have this VID block info to put in there stock writer, in many instances and does no good to try to use it once the condition happens.
If they accessed the 'as built' data bank using your VIN then it may work fine if included in the stock writer.
Unfortunately I don't think they are at that point and it causes a lot of there/our problems trying to use their product on a reliable basis.
The company is now owned by MSD, so it looks like any quality intended is getting lost from the effects of being absorbed.
Also many modules contain specific option code that make them non tranferrable between vehichles unless the original data is retreived and transferred to the new module or again recieved and loaded from the As Built data base.
It's a tough situation on modern vehichles to make it simple and low cost to own in event of even a ordinary problems let alone getting involved with custom changes that can become a hassle if you can't find a way to accept it.
I gave all this so you don't get completely snowed by what your told and have a basic idea of what is going on.
This is the computer world now.
Good luck.

Tuning your truck, ESPECIALLY when they send you a stockwriter, is risky. The BEST idea, is to take it to the dealership DURING NORMAL BUSINESS HOURS, and tune it there. That way, if you have a problem, you can call edge. (it's during normal business hours remember?) and if they can't help you, then your truck is already at the dealership. So they can re-flash ya and get you on your way.
