Ok, I have a diablosport predator tune in my truck, but I bought the truck without the tuner....which by the way sucks!, but anways I want to switch to the edge now, so I have to have the dealer reflash the computer to get the truck back to stock before I can do so. I called one dealer today and he was an *******. he seemed annoyed by what I was asking him to do. He told me that If he reflashes the PCM and it burns out than its my problem and I have to deal with it... and he told me its an hours charge of $75...now I thought to myself..why in the blue hell would the computer burn out from being reflashed if the dealers always reflsh the computer when they do work? So I called another dealer and he told me that its no prob..it'll take a half hour and I can wait there and it costs $40.50....How could the computer burn out? Im guessing he was just giving me a load of B.S. because he didnt want to do the work! thanks in advance!

 

Some dealers just don't get it. Go with the one that is willing to work with you and remember him next time you want to buy a vehicle.

 

Good advive...Thats what Im doing...and Ill never do business with the other dealer again! Have you ever heard of the PCM burning out from reflashing? or burning out in general?

 

Why do you have to reflash the PCM you turner should set the truck back to stock for you. I have the same tuner I guess it didn't work as good for you as it did for me.

 

Re-read the OP's post. His stock tune is on the Diablo which he does not have. His PCM contains a Diablo tune, but the hardware is AWOL.

If he tries to install the Edge, the Edge will store the Diablo tune as the 'stock' one - not good.

That's why.

I concur - any dealer worth his salt will gladly perform this routine service.

Hey, I wont hold it against ya! Yeah, I dont have the original tuner yet the truck is tuned and i want out! Once the truck is reflahed, will it be ok to drive it with the aftermarket wheels and tires and 3:73 gears once the truck is stock? Im guessing just the speedo will be innacurate, but I just dont wanna confuse the computer or something if that makes any sense! Im ordering my edge from discount power parts tommorrow.

 

Hey 05, so what happened to the tuner if you know. That sucks that you bought it without it.

 

I bought the truck and the seller told me that he forgot the tuner and he would give it to me as soon as he got home...so days, weeks, months went by and he never called and I called him aout 12 times with no reply...and there is nothing in writing saying that it was included so there is nothing I can do! And yea, it majorly SUCKS!

 

Ok, with the help of a few of you guys, I did it! I got the truck reflashed at a local ford dealer! Thank god I finally got that figured out! Now I just ordered my edge from Larry @ discount power parts, what a grat guy! he was such a big help. Even called me to explain the tuner in more depth!

 

yep, that is where I got mine. Never heard anything but good about them. Good luck with your Edge, it makes the truck a lot more fun to drive.
